I was in that area also - around Lake Mille Lacs to be exact. Thank gawd I had a lake to swim in while I was there.

OK, probably the last time I bump this thread.

This was the hottest summer in recorded history in Wichita, KS. We broke a 75 year old record by having 51 days of 100 F or more for the high temp. I hope that's all we're going to put on that total. We had a couple of 108's this past week to get to that record. Ugh.

But, we had a cold front come through last night. It's cooler right now than it has been in months, 68 F. Plus, this time next week I'll be in the beautiful Flathead and won't give a coil about anything to do with Wichita or it's ridiculous weather.

But then I saw this.....

580 degrees on Thursday? How in the hell are we supposed to get mail delivered in that heat?

I've worked so many hours the last year, it's hard to get my head away from the job!

Not next week though!

We finally had a nice summer up here. Last two years were pretty crappy. Two days at the 30 mark I believe so nothing too hot, we've had up to 36 or so here before. But we finally got some good consistent stretches of warm (hot to me) weather.

What I have noticed in Calgary over the last few years and I have heard this from a few others, is that Calgary's humidity really seems to be increasing. For a city that is classified in a semi arid climate and is one of the drier (major) cities in the world, that could be a significant change if it continues.

Yes it's definitely been more humid in the past 5 years or so. But rather than a change from the norm, it reminds me more of what I remember from my childhood. I think the late 90's and early 00's were drier periods for southern Alberta.

It was a really nice summer in Calgary!

being from the Okanagan i've really noticed the increased humidity the past few summers, and it's a change for the better IMO. i hate how bone dry it is in the winter, my skin and sinuses really notice a difference

Don`t worry DFF, I phoned in to the station and double checked for you, it was actually just a typo. The actual forecasted temperature for that day is only 80. I was a little shocked myself, but very relieved once I realised it was just a mistake.

51 days over 100? That is hell. That's almost 40 degrees. The only business I have in 40 degree heat is on a beach under an umbrella. I would have a hard time working for 5 or 10 days in that kind of heat, never mind 51.

You have my sympathy, Dis.

It was 29 here in Ottawa today, and with the humidex felt more like 36 or 37, and it didn't get cooler in the night. Impossible to sleep. Bring on Autumn, I say.
