Do you know what the most popular pet in America is?

Not the dog, but fish. 12 million households own over 158,600,000 fish.

The bomb which the Americans dropped on Nagasaki on August 9th, 1945 was only 1/10 of 1% of the bomb's potential total power.

I bet no one can eat 7 soda crackers in less then a minute. No beverages or lubricants or any kind. Just soda crackers and a watch.
Forget that, you can't do 4! [/b][/quote]
So not true...I just did 4 in 57 seconds :P

Not true

Quote:
Every morning, George Clancy, principal of St. James Middle School in Johnson City, N.Y., starts the school day by making announcements on the public address system, then reading an inspirational quote and a Snapple Real Fact. One day last spring, the Snapple fact read:

"It is impossible for humans to lick their own elbows."

Within seconds, virtually every one of the school's 175 students -- and several teachers -- were attempting to lick their elbows. None of them could do it -- except Jack Burtis.

Jack -- then a 10-year-old fourth-grader with supple arms and a long tongue -- effortlessly licked his elbow. He showed his teacher, who immediately sent him down to the principal's office. He showed Clancy, who heralded the lad's achievement by calling the local newspaper and writing to Snapple.

World record? That's BS. More like the Great Britain record.

I thought I was the only one in the world that used to do that.

People of the English town of Hartlepool, and especially supporters of tis football team are known as "monkey-hangers". The nickname relates to a time in days of yore when a ship was wrecked near the port town of Hartlepool. A surviving monkey wandered in to the town and as the townspeople had obviously never seen such a creature before they arrested it and tried to interogate it. As for obvious reasons it couldnt/wouldnt reply they came to the conclusion it was a spy from Spain or some other enemy country and hung it.
Holy Moly no offense to any monkeys out there but that is one great story.

Speaking of Frenchmen, did you know that Andre the Giant once drank 117 bottles of German beer in one sitting? It's true.

Sadly, this "Did You Know" fact is just another reason why Jordon doesn't like wrestling.

When the flag went up at Iwo Jima it was still a week before the battle for the island was won.

The term 'sideburns' come from Union general Ambrose Burnside who had the greatest mutton chops of all time. Unfortunately Burnside was a terrible general who killed most of his men. No one knows how burnside got changed to side burns.

World War Two is technically several different conflicts going on at the same time.

The Germans would of won WWI if not for the British employing the same illegal type of blockade that the Germans were trying to impose on England. The German blockade eventually helped the Americans into the war a hastened the defeat of the Germans.

Canada once had an aircraft carrier, the HMCS Bonaventure, and the worlds third largest navy.
Actually, Canada once had three aircraft carriers.

The Warrior was a loan to Canada by the Royal Navy until the Magnificant could be completed.

The Magnificant was decommissioned in 1957 with the Bonaventure as a replacement, the latter decommissioned in 1969.

Yeah that was kinda vague.

Anyhow, you know when you are on the page with the list of topics (the page you were just on probably that says) "- The Off-Topic Forum and then underneath it has the words

Topic Title Topic Starter Replies Views Last Action

Well underneath the "Replies" heading, there will be numbers. The number under "Replies" that corresponds with this topic "Did You Know" will have the number 53 in the reply column. Click that 53 and voila.

*note -- the number 53 is not going to be permanent (unless I totally killed this thread). Pretty soon it will be 54, then 55 then 56 then 57 then 58 then 59 then 60 then 61 then 62 then 63 then 64 then, well, you see the pattern I am sure. It's just like counting (up).
Nice find. I am pouring through the 3,400 posters on the "word association" chat. Looking at the number of posters is even more interesting than posting words that associate......i just don't get that thread.

Did you know that beer in England used to have raw meat added to the keg to give it flavour?

Two gooders.

1) In Calgary there is still a law that if you get run out of town, you must be supplied with a horse and a gun.

2) In Medicine Hat, it is still illegal to tie up your horse in front of the Eatons (There hasn't been an Eaton's there in at least 15 years).
