Seriously, that game would be the best thing ever.
I certainly agree with you but EHM rights are owned by Sports Interactive who are owned by Sega (who basically canned EHM), and do they not own Visual Concepts and the 2K sports group? If that is actually the case then EA would never get those rights.

Focussing on CGY for a bit:
Calgary
J Iginla 92
M Kiprusoff 89
R Regehr 88
J Bouwmeester 85
O Jokinen 84

Interesting observations:
- Iginla is tied for the THIRD highest OVR wiht datsyuk at 92, and only behind crosby 93, ovechkin 94

- Regehr is WAY too high. With an OVR of 88, the only dmen better than him is chara at 89!!! Bouwmeester is at 85...

- Kipper tied with vokoun, N. Backstrom, lundqvist, fleury at 89 OVR, is the only behind miller 91, and luongo 90 for goalies

Straight up, Regehr for Savard.

So 8 of our 12 forwards and all 6 of our D are in the 81 or higher. I wonder how many other teams in the game will have that kind of overall depth. If I knew how to get at these lists, I'd do an average score for each team...

Amongst goons, I think he deserves a pretty high rating. Remember that the overall rank is really all about the individual categories. I doubt McGratton has a high rank in shooting, passing, skating... but he probably has a very high rating in toughness, checking, balance, aggressiveness, etc etc.

He's not going to score any goals, but he'll be a monster out there... and rightly so.

Pretty expected ratings from how EA does things. Players might get a bump if they continue their good play (Giordano).

First roster update should be available by the 15th. Toskala should be replaced by Karlsson, etc.

Still stunned by Regehr's rating. It will be interesting to see the attributes more in depth.

I understand the explination for the ratings that goons will have high marks for toughness, checking, etc and little for skill but there is something wrong when Ivanans is a 78, McGratton is a 79 and Giordano is only an 81. Glencross is tied with McGratton, too.

The roster update won't be out till after the first day of the regular season.... or once the tryout period is done, I think it's 9 or 10 games.... once the rosters are finalized I figure.

well it's not like the game has certain teams that goon it up compared to say a detroit that plays a smooth style of hockey.

No need to dress or even sign a goon since teams wont go after skilled players.

Typical EA. I wonder regarding trade logic if I took an Ivanans and a McGrattan, could it get me a Giordano in a trade? That would be a fail.

Its been this way for a few years, unfortunately there is no better way.
It works out because his speed is probably 65 vs gio's 88, but in areas like fighting/strength its probably a 92 vs gio's 40-50 which brings gio's overall down quite a bit.

Additionally people forget that forwards will always get a higher overall rating then defense because defense always have a sub 20 faceoff rating while forwards have at least a 60+ with most sitting in the 80 range.

Normally overall means next to nothing, athletics seem to hold the most importance when it comes to playability but i very much agree that is sickening to see the overall of goons in the range of 50 point defencemen or see jackman even close to glenny.

Why do you guys keep comparing goons to defencemen? Why compare McGratton to Giordano at all? Compare McGratton to Boogard and Giordano to Jovonoski. Forget about their overall rating.

This is why players have categories... power forward, sniper, tough guy, grinder, two-way forward, two-way defenceman, offensive defenceman, defensive defenceman... etc.

Even though McGratton and Giordano are close in overall rating, I promise you that you'll skate faster, be more agile, score more often and have less passes intercepted with Giordano than with McGratton... and you'll hit harder, injure more people and win a hell of a lot more fights with McGratton than with Giordano.

Heads up.

EB Games @ Southpointe Common in Red Deer is doing a Midnight Release.

http://www.gamestop.ca/NHLLAUNCH

Anyone know if you can get your money back on a pre-order (EB Games)? Or transfer locations?

No way I am missing this.

EDIT: Yep, they were cool with it. Gave me the money back on a gift card which I used at the south location. September 6th is going to be the longest day EVER!

I see they have a launch party in Burnaby featuring the Sedin twins.

Should I attend in my Flames jersey and ask to pose with them for a photo?

You know, for the lulz.
