I think it is worth prestiging, but only once. The subsequent times seem like a waste to me as it only really opens a single title and new emblem for each time and it's a PITA!!

Is that all you really get is new emblems and challenges?

I thought I read it opens up a new Custom Class spot each other time you prestige (or something like that). Anyone know if this is true?

I don't know, can't remember how many there were at the start. I prestiged once and now have six spots now.

I am blown away at the thought of prestiging... let alone multiple times.
How much do you guys play this game that you are able to do this? By no means am I great at this game but my k/d is now close to 1 and after playing what seems like hundreds of hours of this game I am only at level 50.
The people who do this are either amazing at it or need to find a better way to invest their time. Like seriously that's a lot of time invested in a video game. It scares me to think what my relationships would be like if I were to spend that much playing MW2. I already get flack from my fiance and I play it fairly casually.
I don't want this to come off as assholish or anything cause I, like most in this thread, really enjoy playing this game. It just seems like there are some people who spend a stupid amount of time playing it. I guess maybe I would have had more time to play it in college or something but now that I have a FT job it seems crazy.

I rarely play, hence why I'm at level 21 or something like that. I come home around 6, make dinner, clean up, watch some TV and then when the GF goes to bed, I play for like 45 minutes or so.

I bought the game when it was released back in November, and I really only play it when I have some free time. Maybe an hour here or a couple of hours there, especially on weekends. I think it took me roughly 48-50 hours of total playtime to hit level 70, and basically about 3 games after that I decided to Prestige, only because I wanted to have access to the new titles, emblems and challenges.
You do infact gain a new Custom Class slot every time you do it, and I heard someone say that at 10th Prestige you unlock an extra Kill Streak (although I haven't bothered to confirm this.) I once asked someone who had claimed to legitimately reach level 70 on the 10th Prestige, and he claimed it took him 16 days of total play time, (as in 384 hours.)
Several other people who are 10th Prestige likely got there by joining hacked lobbies with 50,000 experience per kill, unlimited ammo, etc.
I wouldn't say it's worth it to prestige if you're just a casual gamer though.

Yeah, that's about how long it took me to prestige. I haven't been playing a whole lot lately though, but I imagine that will change when the new maps are released.

The new maps are coming out in Spring. My guess would be April.

I heard new weapons too, kind of like an expansion pack. And it may be disc based. Can you confirm that Justin?

I'm close, so I'll probably prestige once
It doesn't take too much time, you can pretty much level once a day. On groundwars, you can earn about 2k in experience per match

Maybe it's cause I don't play groundwar that it takes longer. I tend to play free-for-all and end up with 1000 - 2000 per match

Ground War games don't net me a whole lot of experience on their own. The lion's share of my exp points come from unlocking challenges, unlocking attachments for guns and using perks I haven't yet reached 'Pro' with. Typically I'll average around 1000-1500 points of standard exp. per game, since most of the Ground War games I end up in are Domination, but that doesn't include all the bonus experience I get for unlocking things. Since there's more people to shoot at in Ground War, the easier it becomes to do it.
Getting a certain amount of kills with a gun you use a lot helps too. For example, I think if you get 500 kills with a weapon, it's 10000 bonus exp.

If you're looking for match bonuses, play sabotage. If you get a full game that goes into a good 15-20 minutes, your looking at 2-4k if you win and around 1.5-2.5k if you lose. Pretty solid.

No. I only said April because I remember from E3 last year when IW was showcasing MW2 they said the xbox 360 will be getting 2 exclusive map packs, and apparently the first is due out in spring.
So I should mention. Only Xbox 360 users are getting new maps, PS3 users aren't. I am not sure if they will be exclusive or just timed exclusive (360 users get them first for 3 months, like Fallout content).
So that is 2 map packs exclusive (timed or not) to the 360. Not sure if weapons will be included.
