Coincidences don't confirm anything. Why not just be patient until there's official confirmation, which it appears isn't going to be much longer?

It's just absurd to make such assumptions, repeatedly.

I'm not exactly sure what some posters on here expect.

Employers cannot and will not comment on issues about employees. Not only would that be contrary to various privacy regulations and laws (PIPA, PIPEDA and Employment Standards come to mind) as well as contract law, but they would open themselves up to lawsuit. In many cases of Short/Long-Term Disability Claims (I've handled many as a Controller) the employer knows....zip. It's a discussion between insurers, medical professionals and the employee...and all the employer gets back is a "their disability leave is approved (or not)". How that plays in the NHL I don't know, but I can't imagine it's a lot different.

There is NO requirement (or ability) for the public to know anything about a Police investigation while it is ongoing- or, for that matter, once it's concluded and charges have been laid (or not) prior to a public hearing in a Court.

Only in open Court can all the facts be ascertained. And that isn't happening any time soon.

As to the perceived "delay"...I'd have to speculate that when the London cops did their review, it was either sloppy or they concluded there was insufficient evidence to lay charges. Subsequently to that, courtesy of both civil lawsuit and Rick Westhead/Robin Doolitle...more evidence MAY have come to light (including the now-removed video/picture)...and THAT led to a reopening of the case.

Meanwhile, we await what is likely to be a very uninformative press conference on Feb 5 as the cops will not want to prejudice their case.

I don't think this is tinfoil hat at all. It is a reasonable assumption based on the evidence that Formenton will be one of the five charged

So, what does that have anything to do with this assertion you just made?

I really don't know what some posters would have had the Flames organization say in their press release.

You know that Dillon didn't go to the team and say "I'm guilty and I need some time off". He very likely said that he needs time away for mental health reasons.

Were they supposed to say that "Dillon will be away from the team indefinitely and we suspect he is involved in the hockey Canada rape scandal. The dirty bastard is probably guilty".

Probably because that has precisely nothing to do with this topic.

Justin Trudeau wasn't actually on the Epstein list. The 'version' of the list that he's on that Theo Fleury and crew trumpeted was fake.

The reality is the NHL, Calgary Flames, Gary owe us nothing. We are not entitled to any information they legally don’t have to share. The NHL is a business accountable to their shareholders.

Don’t like it? Withdraw your time and money investment from their business.

That is how free enterprise works.

yeah I don't think Formenton being involved would surprise anyone. When a 22-year-old forward after a solid rookie year doesn't get another NHL contract and has to go to Europe, there's obvious smoke.

I guess the question then is if they knew Formenton, why not the other guys in the room?

We saw it with COVID. Worldwide pandemic? Not enough. Actual people dying? Boring. Must have global conspiracy to inject us all with 5G and control us. And I discovered it!!

I don’t know if it was always this way but people definitely seem to struggle with events happening in ways that don’t match the content they’ve over-consumed. I think there was even someone in this thread mad that they didn’t make public arrests like in the movies.
Damned straight! Who doesn't like a public Perp-Walk into a Cruiser using a jacket to cover the very obvious handcuffs?

The London Cops sat on their asses for 6 years. They should have to get Officers Montoya and Bobrovsky to drive a police van all over North America (and eventually Switzerland) gradually rounding these guys up!

Do some work!

I'm hoping one of them makes a run for the border and we have a hilarious low-speed highway chase a la OJ!

Well I think we either found Theo Fleury's burner account, or somebody who takes Theo Fleury's twitter account as gospel.

I wonder if Theo still believes that bit about Marek Zidlicky eating kittens?

It's a good question, but the easy answer is that more than likely one team had access to more information than other teams had. We cannot just assume that all five players's situations are identical.

If the Flames thought Dube was likely involved, they should have never offered him a new contract in 2021. I am willing to give them the benefit of doubt that they were convinced that he wasn't involved at that time.

Having said that, we still don't have 100% confirmation of anything, but it's hard not to assume.
