Oh yeah, there’s no defending the play - dumb penalty was dumb. He left the ref no choice given the whole helmet rule where if a player loses his lid he has to go off.
The positives vastly outweigh the negatives though.

It was a bad penalty but it should have been a 4 on 4. not a PP. Savard was far from innocent

I was sure when the whistle blew the clock was still showing a second left. Hedman actually held the puck before icing it.

That roughing call was pretty ticky tacky. Players have battled all series and slashed and roughed harder than that. Blame it on reffing inconsistency.

They battled, and then Sam just didn’t quit. Took it a step too far and wrenched off the helmet. He made it easy to call.

Vastly? Took an absolutely idiotic penalty that turned the game (and maybe the series) around in Game 1. Couldn't play game 2 because of said idiotic penalty. Took another idiotic one tonight that may be the icing on the cake.
He's looked good for the most part, racked up some points, but man his blunders/mistakes/idiocy have been huge black marks for him, and have really hurt his team.
