"According to bull#### spouted by snake oil salesman"...that's a real buy in you've demonstrated.

Do the math on that 20,000 per hour number and come back to us.

If you are going to the cost and effort to build a tunnel to move people, you put a train in it. Humanity has this problem solved. If you really hate other people you put them in pods, on a track(or I guess you van be like Paris if you like tires), on a train. Human driven Tesla's topping out at 35mph requiring a driver for each car is dumb.

Anyway, for those who don't swallow whole throated Musk meal without rational question, here's about where they are now. (12 minute wait just to get on)

20,000 an hour, what a riot.

A chore that tens of thousands have to endure, being presented with a solution at a lower cost and faster execution, but all you can do is sputter how terrible it is. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out, positive or negative.

I for one look forward to an improvement in the bland task of getting from where one finds themselves to the airport more efficiently. You don’t have to take it. You can smugly ride with your soon to be unemployed Uber driver.

And the reason the cars in the tunnels have a driver is because it is a requirement of the Las Vegas authorities, not because it couldn’t be autonomous. One way tunnels would be the absolute simplest example of where self driving vehicles could (and will) operate.

Where's the evidence it's lower cost and faster execution, along with being better than a train? You are just repeating what Musk tells you. That doesn't make it true, or your car would have drove itself in 2016 and we'd be on our way to Mars by now.

Yeah, let's assume you fill each of the Teslas on on that system with 4 people (it'll be less than that).
So 20,000 people means you've got to move 5000 cars per hour.

Assuming it takes 30 seconds to load a car (it'll be more than that) that means you can load ~120 cars/hr/lane.
So that means to move 20,000 people/hr, you're gonna need the equivalent of 42 lanes inside this tunnel.

That sees implausible.

I mean, you could reduce that by say coupling multiple cars together so more people could load simultaneously, and those blocks of cars travel together.
But at that point, you're just inventing the worlds dumbest train.

@ 4:55 you get to see an actual antonymous pod transport system. Super futuristic. It's 50 years old.

It's funny that some people trust FSD when Elon doesn't even trust it enough to use it in the tunnels which were purpose built for it.

It's funny some people trust Musk even after he was caught lying about...his video game prowess. Like, seriously. When a 50 something year old guy is paying people to make him look good playing video games(as if this should matter in life) and then lying about it, that should be the point where everyone on Earth said "WTF is wrong with this guy?" But instead they rode the dick harder.

Why do you need to lie about that? Is your ego so fragile you need people to think you are a top Diablo player? And if he lies about that, well, I guess that's why he's losing lawsuits.

Is it more funny or sad that someone actually believes a bunch of cars in a tunnel could ever move more people than a train. Just typing that out made me realize it's definitely more sad.

This was a joke post, but it is also accurate, and perhaps even an explanation of why FSD did that. Because it's trained on driving videos of Americans. Garbage in=garbage out.

If people on the board hadn’t almost been killed by his terrible and extremely weird Musk/FSD obsession IRL then I would think it’s a total parody account collecting the most overtop fanboy cliches and remixing them to fit these hilariously appraisals of advancements in technology like… a tunnel people drive in.

But no, this person is a real human being. What a life that must be.

Doing some more math. Looking at the Vegas Loop map, it would be generous to say there are 5 miles of track so far but let's go with that. You can fit 337 Model Ys in one mile. 5 x 337 = 1,685 total Ys you could fit in the 5-mile loop. To reach a capacity of 20,000/hr, you would need each Tesla to carry 20,000/1,685, or just under a dozen people.

Let's take the concept of a train, and remove all of the economies of scale by having less passengers per metre of tunnel, and a massive multiplication of drive systems, control systems, HVAC, safety, etc.

This is the dumbest #### ever. Can you Elon Stans just get your Jonestown over with already so we can move on?

Whats Real Estate like in French Guyana these days?

And I've said it before and I'll say it again, the greatest marketing miracle of our time is Kool-Aid. Its indelibly linked and associated with one of the biggest mass murders/suicides of all time but its still on shelves and people still buy it.

Amazing.
