Yeah but it's clear he needs more developmental time and missing 8 weeks doesn't help on that front as that's back to back seasons in the WHL where he's missed at least 6 weeks to injury.

I'm not sure exactly why Honzek was able to be "sent back" to junior (even though he likely never left Calgary) rather than being put on SOIR, but it ultimately doesn't matter because he wouldn't have any cap hit either way and he is still being treated in Calgary.

Thanks! No games played last year to use in proration calc means it doesn't matter. What a strange rule.
I like the Honzek pick especially after seeing how quick he is for his size. But he just really looks like someone that hasn't grown into their body and is an injury waiting to happen. Hope he rehabs and puts on some muscle. WHL is the place for him.

Just bumping this thread to see if anyone knows of any progress with Honzek? The tweet above suggested he would have played a game by now but I don’t see any stats for him on the Giants web page. Sucks for him to miss so much time in a year where he has such an opportunity to play a big role on his junior team. Also wondering because I was thinking he would likely play for his country at the world juniors if he is healthy. Hopefully he is so he gets a chance to play in that tournament.
