I'm wondering if Bennett hasn't gotten laid in a while. Anyone know a girl that would take one for the team?

This is why I'm not an NHL coach because if I was I would put Bennett out during that 2 minute drill where someone wins a car if the Flames score and say hey Sam go get a goal already so that kid up in the stands can have a new car...

I'm perfectly relaxed but figured maybe we could talk about sports on this forum instead of Sam Bennett's sex life.

And with Bennett's luck he would win that poor fan a PT Cruiser.

This isn't a fanboy thing.
This is a player that seems to have things aligned often in the past two years that finds a way to get in his own way.

It’s the part That really hurts he most - he always looks great in preseason and then the season starts and he looks lost.
People forget how good the Tkachuk-Bennett- Brouwer line looked in preseason last year and then a week into the season there is nothin. This year he has 4 points in 4 games and now it’s 15 games later and no points.
He just can’t get it done in the regular season. Pre-season and post-season he always looks good though.

I dont understand why putting him in the press box for one friggin game would be such a hardship for him.
I suggest it could help him...a lot. It literally couldn't make things any worse.
Instead people want to cede him more minutes with the top line in some cases, which is completely asinine. Break up Ferland from the top 2 in order to insert a guy with nary a single point this season. Brilliant.
Just weird to me the defense of a player who simply has not been good enough more than he has been good.

Lots of trade talk about Sam Bennett in the media recently. If he doesn't turn it around soon he might end up playing himself off the team

I can't see the Flames trading him. Especially since we just signed.
And to be fair, he's not playing horribly. He sure as hell isn't contributing, but outside of a few penalties he took early on, he's not a liability when he's on the ice.
Also, kudos to GG for giving him some PP time last game.

The kid is not playing himself off the team. He is not putting in poor efforts. Bennett is playing a fast hard game still. The results are 100% a shame but i have not once this season been left wanting more effort after a game.
Once the effort or the attitude changes its a different ball game. I highly doubt it gets there.
I have a good feeling the kid hits the score sheet very soon

Unless there's a team with an equally high pick who is in a similar situation, and wants to just do a switch to change the scenery for each player, I can't see us trading Bennett right now; his value is far too low to justify letting him go, vs holding him and hoping he eventually develops.

I could 100% see this kind of thing happening with Buffalo and Sam Reinhart

If we can swap Bennet and a 4th for Sam Reinhart we better take that and run with it!
Bennet has a higher ceiling but Reinhart has a higher floor.

Too early for trade talk. He's not playing like crap, and seems to be playing better, despite not playing with other established and impactful NHL linemates.
Interesting how 2011 draft pick Sean couturier is suddenly figuring out offense just this year.

I don't agree with the notion that there's nothing to lose by hanging on to him. Don't you think the Islanders are happy they traded Griffin Reinhart (another 4th OA) when they did, rather than wait a season or two for his value to decline to nothing? 16th and 33rd picks would actually looking pretty good right now.

Yeah, but that's assuming you could get that kind of return for Bennett.
If we could, I think it would absolutely be worth considering.
Maybe I'm just severely underestimating his value though.

Sure, but the point you're missing from posters there is that Reinhart still had significant value, though diminished. Bennett does not have that, he's passed the point of getting a decent return before a bad one later, so that's why you keep him at this point.

has anyone else noticed how often Bennett looks out of position - like he doesn't know where he's supposed to be on the ice. Both in the offensive and defensive zone?
