I think I would do Strome straight across for our 6th.
I would think the ask from Snow would be 6th +

I've been wondering about Strome as well...
If the Islanders can re-sign Okposo, then I think they would at least consider trading him for the 6th overall pick.
And I think it would definitely accelerate the re-build. It's an interesting proposition.

With the addition of a guy like Strome, who could easily slot into the top line, and a good 2nd line signing from free agency, I don't see why we couldn't be contending next year.
I guess goaltending is still a question mark.
Now I'm sounding like an Oilers fan. "If we just add this, and this other thing, and one more thing, we'll be winning the cup for sure!"

I don't think I would do 6th for Strome straight up anymore. He had a good sophomore year but looks like he regressed a bit this year. The question would be would I rather have Ryan Strome or Alex Nylander. I would have to pick Nylander at this point.
But I would trade 6th for Dylan Strome.

I admittedly haven't watched much of the Islanders this year, but how much of that regression in numbers is due to his game declining, and how much is due to falling out of favor with the coach?
I can't say obviously, but on the surface it would appear that could be the reason for the dip in points. Who knows why he's fallen out of the coach's favor though.

No to Ryan Strome for our 6th. He hasn't proven anything in the NHL to warrant that price tag, in my opinion.

I don't think Strome is worth the 6th overall in a draft with a strong top end. Hasn't his value gone down since being drafted since he has yet to show he's an impact NHLer years later?
I'd be fine giving up the type of package that got Nino Neiderreiter but 6th overall? I think that'd be an overpayment.

I think Ryan Stromes decline in Pts this year totally has to do with falling out of favour with the coach. He played a lot of the year on the 3rd line and when you are a skilled player you need to play with players that also have skill to produce. He does have 4 Pts in 6 playoff games.

But are the reasons he fell out of favour with his current coach reasons that he'd fall out of favour with any coach? Is he a reclamation project or just a disappointment?
I'd be wary. The Flames would have to LOVE him to trade the 6th for him. Personally I think a higher upside player than Ryan Strome will be available at #6.

Just a quick question on Alex Nylander. He just turned 18 in March. So was this past season his 17 year old season or 18 year old season? I'm curious if he has one or two years of CHL eligibility.
I assume he goes back to the CHL for 2016-2017 but wondering if he is eligible for the AHL for the 2017-2018 season.

If we're trading 6th overall, I'm hoping that he just needs a change of scenery.
I admittedly don't know a lot about Strome beyond his draft position, and point totals.
It would be great to get a 22 year old 5th overall who could play 1st line rather than a potential first liner who requires a few years of development. I don't know if Strome fits that bill though.

I believe much like Honka went to the AHL after being drafted, Alex Nylander is eligible to go to the AHL next year. It's because he's considered on loan to the CHL by his Swedish team and therefore he hasn't been drafted out of the CHL or something along those lines.
I'm sure the CBA experts can chime in but yeah, I think Nylander like Honka is AHL eligible right away if my info is correct.

No. If he doesn't make the NHL, he would have to be sent back to the OHL for the next two seasons (no AHL until his OHL season is done). He wouldn't be able to play in the AHL until the 2018-19 season.

I'd sooner take Nylander and slap him on RW than I would trade the pick for any realistic NHL player.
