From Vancouver, where they love their "protests".

Same website and "author" who advocated sending suspicious packages to owners of a DES condo project.

Perfect example of the whacky "left".

Personally, I like some of what the Occupy movement is standing for; I do believe it will take an awakening like this (or perhaps more advanced ones to come in the future) to initiate change at the top of political levels to install regulatory systems for financial entities.

But after reading that article, I'd like to see a bulldozer plow through both Calgary protest sites.

I for one, wish the police would harass them more - they are breaking the law - plain and simple.

These losers need to go reacquaint themselves with soap and employment and get the fata out of my park!

You can't compare Vietnam protest to things like Occupy Calgary, because one was coherent protest with clear goals, and one is just a bunch of dumb asses hanging out in a park and posting "deep" tweets about how they are creating significant social change, but they can't say how, or what they are changing becasue that would some how defeat their "protest".

Corporations do not hire losers, I do not hire losers, MacDonalds and Burger King hires losers, and the state of disrepair these people are in, even that would be difficult. I got in a very heated argument with a fellow down there that seemed to be so enlightened. Many people on this board know my story, and my lack of tolerance for lazy people and excuses. He was going off about how he blew through all his money, and is maxed out with student loans, and cannot find a job that pays him enough to pay off his debt. I told him it must have been awesome to get the chance to go to University, and travel, etc. I never had that chance and as a High School drop out I still managed to make a very comfortable living by simply busting my ass and begging for opportunities. I told him, I started washing cars when I was 17 for $6 bucks an hour, and now, I make that in about 5 minutes. Not because I am some elitist corporate Nazi, but because I bust my ass, week in week out to the tune of 50-60 hours a week. Not because I want to, but because that is what I have to do, and what is expected by my boss, if I wish to stay employed, period. His response.... "if you have it so good, then maybe you should work 30 hours a week, and someone else can work the other 30 and have half of what you make. You are just hoarding it for yourself" Totally f'n missed the point.

This whole thing is about envy. A bunch of people that were dealt a bad hand, that cannot find it in themselves to do what it takes to survive. You can choose to be a loser, and sit in a park, in your own filth, begging for rubbers and asswipe....or you can choose to be a winner...or at least try, and make your life better, on your own terms. If a damaged pile of goods like me, can make a life for myself, there is NO reason, these self righteous losers, cannot do the same.

There is a huge contingent of people involved with this that are legitimatley unable to fend, or cope. Big corporations should not be the targets of these people. They are mentally ill, and dellusional, and should be looking at our mental health system. Those people, I truly feel for. But they have been horribly misguided and influenced, by these hippy wannabees that think they are going actually to change anything. THEY WILL NOT. I say turn on the sprinklers, and get out the riot gear. Enough is enough.

I think Nenshi is a spineless twerp, and I have since day one. He is too terrified to make a decision that may offend someone. Take a page out of your predecessors book, or good old Ralph, and get these stinky bums off the street, that I, and all the other tax paying citizens, pay to maintain. You might get some respect from those of us that saw through your 'Wannamaker' style campaign.

Losers, get a job.
Quoted for awesomeness. Thank you Pylon. Exactly where I am coming from, as well.

I love the last line. I need to buy you a beer.

The 88 Olympics were greatly controversial on numerous fronts. The mythos of the event has pretty much wiped that clean, but there were ticket distribution controversies, environmental concerns (which actually directly cost Calgary the 1972 Olympics), The building of the Saddledome was beset by numerous controversies, not the least of which was the city having the province shut down debate to force the project forward. "Five ring circus" actually is apt.

That being said, I suspect the blog author is simply one of those anti-Vancouver 2010 morons. I doubt he knows anything about the 88 games except for what he saw in Cool Runnings.

Did the Occupy protests get 300,000 people in one place?

The stupidity of protesting "stuff" is surpassed only by the people who think without a clear and concise goal, anything will change or anyone will care beyond themselves..

Its all very bizarre IMO.

If you really and truly believe that then the idea of a free republic/democracy must surely be dead for you then. Might as well let a dictator do what he wants then, or, after an election just turn off the tv and dont read any news as your job is "done"

LOL...what?

The idea that anyone cares about a group of people protesting "something but not sure what" and that anyone else would care about it has absolutely nothing to do with the idea of a "free republic/democracy" being dead.

What's dead...is the non-message these folks are trying to get out. Now it's no more than a sideshow of news clips to see who says the next moronic thing and which city's cops go overboard trying to disperse them.

No idea what you are trying to convey in your post...but the very fact these disenfranchised souls are allowed to gather and protest nothing tangible, shows quite succinctly that democracy and/or a free republic is quite alive and well.

And i have no idea what "my" job is in all this....beyond finding amusement in the whole charade.

It's curious how these protesters have gone from being iPhone-toting spoiled brats to unemployable losers who had been dealt a bad hand.

McDonald's and Burger King might be surprised to find out they are not corporations.

Also, most people would lump burger flippers and carwash flunkies in about the same place on the "loser scale". Do you remember the day you became a non-loser?

My favorite Occupy tweet from today is actually from my husband

http://twitter.com/#!/CoryBMorgan/st...82135632601088

Also goes in the "I can't believe he said that publicly category."

I am neither a winner nor a loser.

I am a man that works his ass to the bone every day so I do not become an unshaven, smelly, hippie sitting in a park begging for asswipe, I have too much pride. I just finished working a 15 hour day, and am getting ready to iron a suit for my 15 hour day tomorrow. If I walk into a pink slip tomorrow, and cannot find another job in my field the next day, week or month... I will gladly go wash some more cars, if that is what it takes. And I will strive to be the best car washer at the carwash. I am too proud to be a bum, in a park, playing kumbaya on my mandolin while my girlfriend stares in awe as she eats a tofu sandwich and drinks hemp tea from her bamboo thermos.

BECAUSE. I. AM. EMPLOYABLE.

blah blah blah

I love how you call people "losers" because they work at fast food restaurants.

Get off your high horse.

You actually are missing the point. I do not believe that all people serving beef n cheddars are losers. However, it is pretty much the staus quo job for the uninspired, and unmotivated, there is no denying that fact. I would however, work at a fast food joint or wash cars long before I would "occupy" anything, hoping to inspire what essentially amounts to a communist revolution.
