I'm a Lions fan so I'm biased, and I'm also overseas so have seen little of their games so far, but I don't think they're overrated.

They're a team that has been stockpiling talent for a number of years and finally have a management team and coaching staff that is changing the losing culture. I think that winning streak at the end of last season was the turning point for the Lions. They have a very different attitude this year!

Sure the Lions played the Chiefs, but you don't control your schedule. The Lions did go into Tampa and beat a decent Bucs team. They then went out and did what they were supposed to; blow the Chiefs out of the park. What more would you want to see?

I know a lot of people expect the Lions to become the same old Lions at some point in the year, and it may still happen, I'm not naive. They'll probably have to get some divisional wins under their collective belt before many people begin to believe they're for real.

Lions aren't overrated at all. If Stafford is healthy they are a playoff team, if he's not they aren't. It's that simple. Nick Fairley hasn't even played yet. They are a force and might even be a contender.

The only reason they might not make the playoffs is because they play in a tough division with the Bears, and Packers as two of the top teams in the NFC and then the Vikings are always a tough game due to Peterson.

It is gonna be disappointing to see an NFC West team make the playoffs this year with one of the Falcons, Saints, Packers, Bears, Eagles, Lions, Bucs, Cowboys etc. missing out with a better record.

Agreed, but I was pleasantly surprised how well they persevered last year after Stafford was shelved for the season. It's not like they lean on him to succeed, but he's probably the factor that can get them over the top.

Likely a case of the police making sure they don't bring a charge if there's a convenient loophole available. It's not like these guys are a flight risk, they have all the time they want to get their ducks in a row.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to burnbabyburns comments. He's just a really, really bitter Chiefs fan right now. Lions are a much improved team this year, and should challenge for a playoff spot, especially if Matt Stafford is healthy.

I find it funny how after the Chiefs were bad for that many years a bad start to the season and already a couple drama queens are screaming to fire everyone associated with the team and start from scratch again. The same guy who had a massive fire Carl Peterson in his signature. Todd Haley may be in over his head as a head coach, trying to run the offence. That much I can agree with, but for chrissakes, if they fire the entire operation to start over from scratch again it's going to be 4 more years of basement dwelling.

Well, Cutler and you might want to get used to it as GM Angelo doesn't seem to think there is much of a problem with the O-line and thinks the defense had something to do with it all while saying there was nothing else he could of done to make them better.

"We did everything you could possibly do to that [offensive line] position," Angelo told the Bears' website. "Nobody did more than the Chicago Bears."

"We drafted a player in the first round," Angelo told the website. "We brought in a player with a lot of NFL experience who is still in his prime. We developed young players who are going into their second and third years, including another high draft pick in Chris Williams.

"We like our eight linemen. That's not an issue. Injuries happen, and then you have to adjust accordingly. Everything bad that happened on Sunday wasn't all because of poor offensive line play. Believe me when I tell you that. It was a collective failure. The defense and special teams share part of that as well. So let's not beat up on the offensive line."

When 3 key young pieces of your team go out for extended periods your team is going to hurt.

I would guess that this will be the off season for the Chiefs to draft a franchise QB. Then they will either cut Cassel or keep him around to back up the new guy. I can't see Cassel getting a starting job anywhere else, but I also don't know how whacking him would affect the salary cap.

The Chiefs exceeded expectations last year and maybe that wasn't the best thing for them in the long term. They are labouring under increased expectations before they were done rebuilding.

But this year is going to be a bumpy ride for Chiefs fans.

Yeah, thats more or less how I see it too. The guaranteed money on Cassels contract has been paid out, and after this year, he's owed 20 million over the next 3 years I think. So if they're bad enough to have to draft a potential franchise QB, than they should be able to do so, and keep Cassel around as insurance for a year. Guy may be a below average starter, but he'd certainly be better than nearly every backup in the league.

Todd Haley though, he could end up a casualty, if it's a really bad season. But I don't think Pioli will be going anywhere. Unless you can convince Bill Cowher to take the job and he demands that type of control, than I don't think it would be particularly wise to axe the GM.

Angelo needs to be fired in the worst way.

Yeah, they drafted Carimi in the first round which is all well and good, but letting pro bowl C,Olin Kreutz leave was another step back. Sure he isn't the centre that he used to be and his run blocking has been an issue the past couple years, but the shift that it caused on the line when he left was huge. We now have a guard playing centre, a RT at RG and so on.

Obviously injuries happen and losing Louis, Carimi and Williams was a big blow but its the NFL and players get hurt every week. That's why you sign and draft depth, which they failed to do in the draft and UFA. The league's worst offensive line got even worse this year.

Texans look like the real deal as well...hard to win in that building and they are more than holding their own.
