I work at McCain and can say that a big contributing factor to the goodness of McD's fries is the quality of potato they demand. A good bit higher than everyone else. And I think for them we have a batter that only one other product uses, but it's not domestic.
The more you know.

Seriously? Are you telling me that you have never noticed that not only do fast food restaurants offer food to go; but they also have service dedicated to food to go called a drive-thru.

If he's saying what I think he's saying, it's about you wanting the food to last longer... to me the quicker fast food is consumed the better. Even 20 minutes old is too old for me.

I'm not a big fry guy, but Wendy's previous fries were awful unless smothered with bleu cheese at the now defunct Super Bar. I miss that.
These fries are better for sure.
Generally, though, I just order a sandwich without the fries.

Mc'Ds use batter? they are the only fast food fries I can eat because it's seems like a real frie without the crap coating. and when you say batter what you mean is some kind of preservative right?
Oh and I heard that the wendy's fries are the same fries except they put sea-salt in the deep fryer.

If you read his post carefully, he doesn't actually get his salt intake this way, he says it goes off the top of his head.

As far as the new fries go, I tried them and thought they were a little too salty. Could have just been that particular batch though. I'm glad they are trying something else with them though. There is lots of win about Wendy's, but the worst thing going for them for the longest time was their old fries.

Yesterday, I asked for the Jr Bacon Cheese Burger combo. Apparently, it's not available in the combo deal anymore. So I asked for a number 4. Apparently, you can pick from one, two or three patties. Coke to drink? Fine. What size? Small? Medium? Large?

huh?

There's a light coating on McD's fries.
Wendy's fries are not the same, for sure. They're thinner and still have some potato skin on them. The salt is always put on after they are in the fryer...never in the fryer itself.

I miss the days of "combo 4 with a coke".
But I digress, the fries tasted fine.
|
Yeah, it's getting pretty annoying at some places.. I guess it's because they want to "upsell" things like fries and drinks?
Taco Time the other day was just at bad for me.
I'd like a super beef burrito please. Small or large? Ah.. large
In a combo? yes
Small or large? I just said large.
No, your fry and drink sir. Oh ok, ah just normal please.
I was then asked if I wanted to supreme my mexi fries, and also if I wanted to buy some sort of desert thing for a dollar.
Six questions, one meal.

I worked at NYFries as a teen and thats what makes them so good too, they bought the best potatoes and cut them in store, cooked them in the best available vegetable oil and bam a really tasty fry.
Man I haven't had NY Fries in like 15 yrs, crazy how time flies by.

I always found their original fries way too processed and dry tasting, they needed a bath in ketchup just to make them edible.
Will swing by Wendy's next week for some tasty fries.
