Or run software like Daemon Tools and create an image of the game CD and store the image on your drive. Run a script to mount the image on a virtual CD drive and then run the game off the virtual image.

Lol not hard to do at all.

Just download Daemon Tools and install:

http://www.disc-tools.com/download/daemon

EDIT: Use Daemon Tools Lite, it's free. No need to buy it.

Download ImgBurn and install:

http://www.imgburn.com/

Then load up imgburn with the desired game in the drive, choose the option to create an image file fromd disc, tell it where to put it, and wait. It'll create a .iso file (or some other file that's a CD/DVD image, not sure what extension it defaults to, shouldn't matter).

Then with daemon tools right click on the icon in your tool tray, then under Virtual Devices, Device 0 (which should also have a drive letter assigned to it, if not you might have to set it in the device preferences option), and mount image. Point it at the file you just created, and voila, you have a virtual drive with a CD image mounted.

You can mount and unmount as necessary, or create multiple devices each with a specific game if you have few enough games you want to do this with.

I love arcade cabinets, I have had mine for 6 or 8 years or so. Mine was built by Slikstik which is a company now out of business. It is a 2 player cabinet with 2 joysticks per player so you can even play games like Karate Champ in vs. mode, and you can also play 4 player gauntlet if you really want to (but its kind of a pain to set up). It also includes an central 4 way stick, a spinner, and a lighted trackball. It was the "Co2" version that Slikstik used to make upgraded with dual pinball buttons and dual rotary joysticks for games like Ikari Warriors, among other upgrades.

Gobsgraham,

The original wiring in my control panel is really well done, very nicely laid out, and I'd like to replace the existing spinner with an up/down spinner (from groovy game gear) in place of the existing tornado spinner, and I'm also considering replacing the existing buttons with a full set of transparent led buttons. I can figure it out on my own but I know my results will look like a hack job.

Do you have any experience with these? I'd be more than happy to pay someone to help me with this.

Edit: My buttons and sticks are connected to an iPac 4. The spinner I want connects via usb, so that part is easy except for mounting.

Edit again: The leds buttons would need to connect with something like this: http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/i...roducts_id=306 and I'm not sure if that would interface properly with the iPac 4 or if it is a total replacement and I would need to buy the keywiz as well?

Looks pretty good. I will let you know if I end up with any drawers left at the end and you can grab one in case you want to mount the X-Arcade components in the control panel and get some custom graphics for it.

Delgar, Sorry I lost track of this thread over the holidays and forgot to respond to you. I am probably way to busy right now to commit to work on that. If it is something you aren't going to do for 6 months or so feel free to PM me when the time comes and see if I have more time to do it.

Does anyone have any interest in an original Ms. Pacman arcade cabinet with a 60-1 setup? The cabinet is all original and I have bought some custom adapter boards to allow the the player select buttons to be used for the fire and jump buttons so there is no need to hack the original panel. $1200.

No worries, I am in no rush whatsoever. If you think get some downtime where you'd like to have something else to work on, let me know. Here is a pic of the cabinet without the dual lightgun option installed (I've since replaced the marquee and have a new interface as well).

The light guns work great, its a dual setup. I have the silver guns from ACT labs. Here's the link: http://www.act-labs.com/products/gun1.htm

There are a lot of cool shooting games in Mame, and I also use them for laserdisc games like Mad Dog McCree.

I'm also told there are better light gun options available now, but I don't know what those are. I've had these guns for several years.
