As for BB Messenger, people only rave about it when they have it. As soon as you have any other phone you realize it's a glorified Text/MMS program with fancy icons. Apple has chosen not to match the service because, frankly, it isn't worth it.

I am going to do my FanIn80 impression, but assuming he he being held captive by Blackberry fan boys hell bent on having a productive work day.
So your main problem with Blackberrys is that they have a lesser phone because
a) Parts of the OS look ugly. - Get a theme?
b) Hardware is of a lesser quality - How many bars do you have while holding your nice new iPhone?
c) it looks bulky - I know! I have a backpack just so I can carry it around.
d) Its a slider phone - I assume you are implying that slider phones suck. I haven't owned one in years so you might be right. This is probably the most relevant point you made, but we have no idea if this model sucks or not.
e) Apple doesn't match the service provided by BBM because it isn't worth it? Could be true, in this age where it isn't that expensive to send a MSN/Google chat/ etc message to your friends from any phone.
How about BIS, the REAL selling feature of a Blackberry in my opinion? Not needing to wait 15 minutes to get my email that the server at work has crashed or the boss needs to figure out why he can't print his report for the board that is meeting in 5 minutes.
Life isn't all about getting apps to do cool things, or an awesome multi touch screen, it is about getting things done. Honestly, for me, Blackberry does that better. If an iPhone or any of the Android models out there could match it, I would probably switch.

Had an idea!

I wouldn't call any Blackberry phone bulky.
Hell, if I wanted to buy a phone based on NOT being bulky, I'd go with the 9700 or the Storm2.
The Blackberry is still the best business phone out there. And I love my Droid on the business functionality it has.

Hmm. That's interesting but somebody must disagree with you as RIM is the #1 smartphone producer in North America.
I hate flip phones, and that flip phone looks sexy.

This.
We have just over 300 Blackberry's in our organization and they are a breeze to manage. You want to set a new mandatory password policy? 3 clicks and you are done. Want to push out an app to 300 phones? Maybe 5 clicks.
I have tons of love for the iphone (Angry Birds owns!), but for getting REAL work done, Blackberry is still King.

Nope, but I'm going to download it now
Edit: Is BerryBlab installed for CalgaryPuck? If not, what would it take to get it running on here?

Well, I received my Bold 9700 on Wednesday via courier. Today I posted my iPhone 3G on Kijiji and sold it. No looking back for me. I absolutely love this 9700!
From BBM, to themes (without having to unlock and screw around with third party software), full keyboard, cool ringtones and fully configurable sounds for all events, instant and I mean INSTANT email, messages all in one place together, cool apps, excellent sound quality for calls, gorgeous and very defined display...the list goes on and on.
This phone rocks. Bye bye Apple...

So this is day 4 with my Bold 9700. I've already used it for more email than I ever did with my iPhone. Loving the qwerty keyboard.
I have a great theme loaded, easy access to BBM, texts and emails and have already loaded quite a few free apps from appworld. Yes, there is no where near the number of apps in appworld for BB compared to iPhone, but I've got what I need and I'm enjoying using what I've found. There are even a few apps I will most likely consider purchasing as they are not free.
I was on the phone yesterday to do a few things (one long call) and the sound quality was amazing. Better than any call I've ever had on the iPhone. I'm sure every experience is different, but the 9700 sounds better than what my home phone used to sound like.
Don't regret the move from iPhone to the Bold 9700 in the least.

Anyone else running out of memory? I only have a handful of apps installed and it keeps telling me the memory is getting full. Is there a way to get the apps to save to the 8 gig card instead?

When it mentions memory, is this memory or hard drive space? Are you shutting down apps running in the background that you are not using? I have quite a few apps loaded and I've never seen this message.

It's memory as I have tons of HD space left. I only have a weather app, THN, Twitter and BBM downloaded. There have been times when I've tried to download more and it said the memory was full

Hmmm...not sure then. I'm of course pretty new to the BB family. Maybe try this thread? http://forums.crackberry.com/f3/how-...-memory-34633/

Which model are you running? I had to delete a lot of unused apps and system databases to let my geriatric 8830 get up to 6-7 decent apps.

I have at least a dozen apps and a couple hundred emails on my 9700 and never have any memory issues. I used to have problems on my Pearl if I let too many emails pile up or tried to run too many apps without shutting down earlier ones, but the amount of memory in the 9700 is so much more that I'm not even close to running into problems.

Working with people that don't have BB is annoying as hell.
"When are you going to get me that info?"
"I emailed it to you 20 minutes ago."
"Oh, I haven't been at my desk for half an hour."
"At your desk? What is this the 70's? You didn't get it on your iPhone yet?"
"No."
I know a lot of people that got suckered into buying the Storm when it first came out as their first smart phone. Every single one of them has turned to the iPhone now. They all keep trying to convince me to change. But I tell them I need my BB for work. Push email and BBM are just too convenient to ever give up.

Yep, that was my experience as well with my iPhone. Always going in to "check" email to see if I had missed anything. I had, quite often. Now, with my Bold 9700, I know I get email when it is sent and there is no "checking" to see if it's there. Fantastic.
