One more thing about the seating position. The combination of the low seat height and the small windows means the window ledge is quite high compared to other trucks. So if you're a guy that likes to roll the window down and rest his arm on the door this may be an issue. Maybe this also leads to that cramped feeling for some?

The centre console is also quite high compared to the seat height. Which again leads to a more cramped feeling because you're wedged between the centre console and the door molding instead of sitting above it all in a big truck. Also bad if you like to cross your legs sometimes while driving...

When it works, though, it works big time. Here's my experience:

Note it's from August 2007 when I did this so maybe stuff his changed since then. It is without a doubt worth looking into. And US dealerships say they won't sell a new vehicle to a Canadian, but they will.

In Mexico and South America they have crew-cab Rangers! *sigh*...I can only dream...

I think this example is a hybrid.

Anyway, they don't pass safety in the US and Canada.

On the smaller truck side, I've had two Dodge Dakota 4x4's. The first one was a '97 V6 extended cab, the first year of the newer style. I had it for 250k over a decade, which included a fair amount of 4wd abuse. The second was an '07 V8 quad cab, had it for a year, pretty much city & hwy driving. Never had serious problems with either, other than replacing the front U-Joints on the old one. If you did decide on one, don't get the gutless wonder of the V6. The V8 chews through gas similarly to a fullsize truck though, so buying a Dakota is more about wanting a midsize truck than any kind of savings. I bought the second one as a one-year lease return for $31k.

I'm 6'1 and I'm driving a 2007 F-150 XLT Crew Cab with a 6.5 foot bed.

IMPO You can't compare the ride of a F150 to any other truck in it's class. I find it very quiet, very smooth, nice and heavy on the road. The head-room and leg room is monsterous, and the room and leg room in the back seats are huge as well.

Lots of storage in the Cab as well. With the click of a button the back seats fold to create a ton of room for storage if you didn't want to put said item in the bed.

Depending on what your looking for you can get great options. Mine has the iPod hook-up which is great for going on ski-doo or long trips, plug it in and listen away. Tri-folding Tonneau Cover, I have a Cap as well but find it much harder in the winter driving with the cap. Once the sand and grim gets up on the windows of it, it's very hard to see. Having to mainly use your side mirrors. Chrome running boards, Chrome front grill. Chrome rims, and riding on Firestone 18" A/T Mudd and Snow tires. Never been stuck, never had a hitch.

Depending on how deep your pockets are (and the price of gas in your area) You have an option of a 4.6L or a 5.4L V8 engine in the F150. Mines running the 5.4L and it costs about $152 to fill right from empty to full. It lasts primarily around 2 weeks on a tank of just using it around the city.

I have no complaints with the F150 what-so-ever. Fantastic truck, incredible ride. Unbelievable for towing, and awsome for just driving in general.
