Spoilers in white:
I may or may not have downloaded the screener but it would appear there are multiple endings to this movie! I didn't get any real scare at the end. The girl was possessed for a few hours staring at the dude and then she goes downstairs and we hear some screams. The dude wakes up and goes downstairs where the girl stabs him. She comes back up and sits beside the bed for about a day when her sister comes (you can hear her downstairs) screaming. She calls the cops who come to investigate. The cops find the possessed girl and end up shooting her as she still has the knife.

I hate seeing the word spoiler or any derivative of it, because it just asks for me to click and drag. I can't do it for the life of me. But the girl and I are going to see it this weekend. I'm going to need to bring another pair of boxers and pants. I'm almost sure of it.

I saw the alternate ending you are describing and I wasn't a big fan of it personally. It just didn't seem to be a very fitting ending. It just came off to me as overly "Hollywood" in what was an otherwise very simple movie.
The other ending I heard about was....**Spoiler in white***
Kate walks into the bedroom covered in blood and holding a large butcher knife down at her side. She walks into the room very heavy and stiff-like. She walks right up to the camera so that the upper half of her body is in the shot (but she isn't staring into the camera or looking at you, she's sort of looking downward), and then she simply pulls up the knife and slashes her throat in one quick, graceful movement, and falls down on the ground. The camera keeps rolling so we just see an empty bedroom for a few seconds and then the camera shuts off and the movie ends.

That was a fun movie to watch. They did an amazing job with their effects considering how low the budget was. I can't believe they went with that ending, considering what the other options were.
Here's my favorite: ****SPOILERS****
THE THROAT
In this version, which the actors say “really disturbed audiences,” Katie goes back to the bedroom after the melee downstairs. She grins at the camera — and slits her own throat. The demon then leaves her body, and Katie falls lifelessly to the floor.
That would have been more fitting.

^^ that ending would be better.. I thought the ending sucked a lot... and I was really bored at the beginning with all the chatter about the camera and setting it up.. its like this girl went from semi-normal to a total freak in under 20 days because she let her mind take it so far..

I really enjoyed the build up actually, yeah, the talk about the camera can get a bit old but really, they were going for the reality aspect and a boy and his new toy thing really worked, cuz when I remember acting very similar when I got my video camera.

Finally saw it, as a big horror fan I have to admit this was exactly the kind of movie I've been waiting to see.
So much of horror lately is bad cheese, with lots of gore and not really much to scare you with. The best horrors often are about messing with your mind and letting your imagination do the work, since nothing is scarier in my opinion.
Don't have a problem with the ending, afterwards I tried to think of possible other ideas but really what happened had to happen, and the whole build up as the movie goes along worked really well.
I'll completely agree with others who said this was a creepy and eerie film that really got in my head as I was watching it.
Great stuff.

just saw this. it was okay.
it tries to be 'real' but they mess up about 10 minutes in by inter cutting between two subjects during dialog. if it was 'real' camera would be panning left and right between the two speakers.
anyway, quite creepy. very well done for a $15,000 budget movie. worth checking out, maybe a rental.

It was ok movie, not really scary at all, although a couple parts got a bit tense, like when he went into the attic, but that scene could have been made to be much more scary, among other scenes.
How many alternate endings are there?

Ol' Billy Shakespeare would agree with you on that one.
I haven't seen the movie (personally, I hate horror movies. I can trace that hate back to Ernest Scared Stupid. We rented that for Halloween when I was maybe six, and it freaked me out) but I've talked to a few who have, and they all say it's one of the scariest movies they've ever seen.

I went and saw this tonight, and for the most part, I thought it was horribly boring.
The last 15 minutes or so had some really chilling parts, but the rest of the movie just wasn't interesting imo.

Not sure what all the hype was about. It had some parts that made me jump but it was pretty predictable (including the ending). The acting was also really poor and took away from the documentary feel of the movie.
2/5 for me.

Anyone see the sequel yet?? I just got back from it.
I enjoyed the first one. I saw it early before all the hype ruined it for me. The new one is VERY similar to the original, so if you didn't like the original, you won't like this one. I enjoyed PA2, some very creepy scenes and a couple of great scares. I liked this one because all the scares weren't solely in the bedroom like the first one. They expand the house and we see some different types of scenes.
The thing I loved about the first one and loved about this one was that it builds and builds and builds. the first half is relatively slow and not a whole lot happens, but the tension is building. I liked how they brought back stuff from the first one to continue the storyline. For those that don't know anythying about the story, it takes place before the events of the first Paranormal Activity and revolves around the sister of the main chick from PA1. The demon is following and scaring the crap out of her and her family which includes a baby.
Once again, the scariest part is the unknown. The sounds coming from upstairs, the anticipation as the camera pans to the left, then the right. The sounds of the air conditioning unit at nighttime when there is nothing going on, but you know something might happen. It's best to see this with BIG sound. Seeing it on a small screen with tv speakers will lose its desired effect.
It made $41 Million this weekend for top spot at box office and is at 67 percent on RT's which isn't horrible for a genre that is usually panned by critics.
8/10 for me. Very similar to the first one and I loved the original, so it's hard for me to give this a low rating.
And once again, if you didn't like the first one, chances are you will dislike the sequel, so don't waste your time and money.

Saw it on Saturday night. First scary movie I had ever seen so I wasn't sure what to expect. The first half was a bit slow, and the views from the handheld camera made me feel dizzy. But it got pretty intense towards the end.

I loved the first one, and am very happy with the second considering all the hype they had to live up to. Love watching these at the theatre and listening to everyones reaction. But I think ppl who laugh during scary movies are just very uncomfortable in dealing with the scary parts.

I always try to see these kinds of movies with a small crowd. When the Excorcist was re-released, I went to see it on opening night and I was in a theatre on a Friday night full of teenagers who were goofing around and laughing when Ragan was swearing with the demon voice, it made for a brutal movie experience.
