Broda is in Hershey. I still believe he will be back. Heard a rumor today that the Hitmen have sent Ryan Kerr home.

Kerr actually packed it in himself, heard he is going to play football for whom or where I have no idea

And Moon's unwavering defence of the punk ends in 3... 2... 1...

Looks like a decent trade for the Canes future though.

Nope, I still stand by the fact that he was a great guy on and off the ice while with the Canes.

There wasn't one single thing that he did wrong and 2-3 incidents that were blown out of proportion.

He was and is a great kid and I wish him nothing but the best in the future.

Good to see he got out of the trainwreck that is the Canes organization right now.

Hitmen beat Medicine Hat in a shootout 5-4. Hitmen still perfect.

Perfect describing the record, rather than the performance, of course. Thanks a lot Jones, it wouldn't have happened without you.

Caught my first Giants game of the year tonight, 2-1 win over PG. Brett Connolly is a beauty.

Aaaand the Hurricanes got destroyed again, 7-2. I know they suffered some pretty significant losses, but are the Canes really this bad? Four games in, and I am already wondering "are they the next Portland?" Nearly 7GA per game so far.

Yes they are that bad.

Basically have no defense and god awful goaltending.

Throw in mediocre coaching and a lack of depth up front and it isn't surprising to see them do this bad.

They lost their top 3 defensemen (who probably all played at least 25 min. a game and were the only 3 on the ice in the last 2 min of a close game), lost 4 of their top 6 forwards and lost their starting goalie. The team was built to win last season and now is paying for it.

Also didn't help that there was no GM for most of the summer so the rebuild couldn't start soon enough and moves that should have been made in July are just now being done.

Won't be long before the Enmax Centre resembles a Billy Graham Revival with Hurricane fans going Jesus Christ! everytime the opposition scores

Hurricanes get over age Goalie Linden Rowat from the Pats for a 5th round pick.

That will be a huge help but the defense is still a long ways away from being decent.

Should make some of these 7-2 losses only 4/5-2.

Good move for Lethbridge. Especially to give up almost nothing.

Great game too... The Rebels are no pushovers this year.

It really caught my eye how mean the Hitmen are this year. I half expect one of Stone or Burgart is going to pull a Milan Lucic and use an opponent's body to destroy a pane of glass. They were both throwing checks that sounded harder than they do at Flames games.

Three great goals by the Hitmen forwards too. Absolutely wicked shots on all three. Red Deer's goalie got hung with the L, but he was outstanding.

Hitmen played a decent game. Absolutely sweet goal by Schultz, toe drag around the defence and roofed it glove side.
Hitmen all but disappeared in the 2nd period, but came back pretty strong in the third. Overall, decent game by the Hitmen, especially considering all of the hype before the game.

Royer's penalty sapped all of our momentum. As bad as the call on Gross was - and it created three goals - Snider's poor effort on the Rebels' second goal sucked the air right out of the Hitmen, especially coming right after Schultz' goal.

Hell of a third period though.

On another note, I believe the linesmen have been told to step in and break up any fight after a player loses their helmet. During the Weller-Schultz fight, one linesman wanted nothing to do with that, while the other tried to get in by himself. A linesman is going to get killed if the league doesn't smarten up with that.

With two rather sub-par 20-year olds on our roster, I think the Hitmen could definitely upgrade, especially at defense. Who might be worth picking up/available for cheap?

Some guys who could be on the outside looking in: Tomas Kundratek or Mark Isherwood from the Tigers, Walker Wintoneak/Sam Klassen/Milan Kytnar from the Blades, and a motley assortment of middling forwards from the Wheat Kings, Rebels, Raiders, Chiefs, and Cougars.
