That mall opened when Bass Pro Shops opened, that is the only store I will ever visit.

Bath and Body Works is going in there too. If your wifes/girlfriends find out, and ever go, they will never leave.

Wow, I wonder how long it will take for that place to not be a complete disaster.

More noteable is that abercrombie, hollister and urban outfitters all pulled out.

I would name it a Buying Mall because women shop and men just buy things.

They have locations in Market Mall already and one opening in Chinook too. Watch out!

Any reasons why they did that? I don't get this mall. It isn't a mega mall, it's pretty large but it's just an oversized outlet mall. Is it worth driving to Balzac to save a few bucks or to spend more time in a stupid mall?

If it is like the one in Las Vegas, unless you're looking for a new skirt or blouse then you might want to pass.

I'm guessing that's exactly it. The three stores I mentioned don't really fit the 'outlet mall' mold. My money says they move into chinook when it's finished.

I know a lot of decisions go into where retail locations are set up, but I cannot for the life of me understand how abercrombie et all have yet to enter the Calgary and Vancouver markets.

They must be near the top of north America in disposable income.

*typing on my iPhone, and thus have no idea how messed up this post will be.

Maybe the ######bag to overall population ratio hasn't hit what AF needs to be successful in Calgary and Vancouver? I guess for now people will just need to go to Edmonton for their ######y needs.

Tower Lane Mall in Airdrie has already given up too. It's been completely renovated into a strip mall.

If nothing else, CrossIron Mills has managed to eliminate one of the skankiest malls in Canada. Two if Deerfoot Mall goes with it.

The Cineplex will be good for Aidronians, since the two-screen joke in town is, well, a joke.

I pretty much anticipate that I will check this mall out once while on the way to Airdrie to visit friends or family, and then that'll be that.

In theory, it is still ongoing, but UHA is struggling to secure $70 million in financing. The track was supposed to open in 2007, but the earliest it can now get done is 2010, and that's assuming they get their funding this month.

Are we getting the lame Calgary-style outlets (leftover crap in odd colors and sizes) or US-style outlets (less expensive clothing purposely made for outlets, mixed with end of season stock)?
