Sounds like it's a fairly common occurence and rarely results in anything besides a spook. Hopefully you're all settled down and can return to feeling safe in your own home.

I wonder if your kids will determine that the real culprit was inebriation. Go to it Sleuths!
These types of movies are a HUGE guilty pleasure of mine... I don't care how bad they may be (and they usually are all quite bad), I actually enjoy watching them...

We got a knock on our door at 4am a few years ago. The guy thought we were the paper delivery folks, late for a pickup, we were not. With a daughter under 1, I did not appreciate the knock, waking her up.

Next morning, another knock on the door at 4, he sang a different tune when my .357 was pointed at his melon.

My brother got into a car accident in the middle of nowhere late at night once... probably midnight-ish. Lights were on in the nearest house that he walked to and he could see people inside. He rang the doorbell looking for help. They did not answer. Probably due to the blood all over his face from breaking his nose on the steering wheel. On the one hand, I can see their point in not answering the door. On the other hand, he needed help.

You sure that was all you were sharing?

We used to live on the ground floor of an apartment building. Guy up on the 3rd floor appeared to be drunk all of the time. He would go out at 2:00 am, out of his mind drunk, to take out his garbage - forgetting his keys inside. Then proceed to pound on my balcony door and scream at all of our neighbors through the intercom because no one would let him back in. Guy didn't last very long in the building.

I would never let the guy in, because I never actually saw him in the couple of months he lived there.
