lol ... I guess it's coming out on the 27th now.

I wonder how many people have successfully snagged it from retailers who sold it early? It was my understanding that many places have already received their shipments. Can you imagine what this is going to cost the developers and Sony? You'd think it would be easier and cheaper to just fix this with an immediate firmware update on launch day. Perhaps I'm not as sensitive to this issue as I should be, but it seems a little wussy on Sony's part. Would it really be offensive to just ship with the lyrics in there and then change the song via update?
edit: A quick tour of the internet tells me that in fact many people do find it deeply offensive. I guess sony is just covering their asses as best they can.

When I read the post it seemed as though they had sent a letter to Sony asking them to remove it via software update. However, it only takes one person that doesn't update their game (not having an internet connection or not using the PS3 online) getting offended to cause a larger problem. This is the best way to avoid any issues and it only costs us a week in delay. It sucks, but it isn't the end of the world.
I'm pleased with how this issue was brought up since it was done in a mature way, by emailing Sony to bring it to light. Unfortunately it was also posted on a forum somewhere, which is the only reason we are hearing the reasons behind the delay, which serve only to fan multiple "factions" into fighting against each other.
I'm disappointed with how many people are up in arms condemning Sony for protecting their behinds. Like they would do any different if they were head of a major corporation...

I guess this means Dobbles and I have an extra week to start our rock band. Realistically I probably wasn't even going to get to this game until the following week anyways.
This situation has so much room to be blown out of proportion I can understand why Sony would want to get on the issue before the release. I also understand that many don't have their systems intenet ready, so an update wouldn't reach everybody.

So this is the week the game is supposed to ship....there may be some stores that haven't heard of the recall. If anyone sees it out in the wild let me know!! I'll be checking rogers and superstore.

Remember the last time the muslims got offended and were threatening to kill people and bomb London?
Yea, good move on Sony's part, to protect the safety of their employees.

Looks like two people making news that don't agree with sony: the songwriter (obviously) and the President of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy.
Toumani Diabate, the songwriter says:
Quote:
It's quite normal to play music and be inspired by the words of the Prophet Mohammed. It's my way to attract and inspire people towards Islam.
|
M. Zuhdi Jasser, M.D., president of the non-profit American Islamic Forum for Democracy says:
Quote:
“Muslims cannot benefit from freedom of expression and religion and then turn around and ask that anytime their sensibilities are offended that the freedom of others be restricted.
“The free market allows for expression of disfavor by simply not purchasing a game that may be offensive.”
|
I would imagine Sony would agree with both of them, but religion is just a little too much of a hot button to screw with.

This game is nowhere to be found. It seems if you stopped by the macleod toys r us around noon you could've picked up a copy. I checked the one a market and it was already recalled. so....close.... It's a no go at walmart, hmv, zellers, rogers, blockbuster, videogametrader as well. Curses!

Ah thanks for trying, I was hoping you'd get one (and let us know the secret too).
I guess I don't want to give up my Kratos sackboy.

I went in today to transfer the $5 I spent on my rock band 2 preorder over to my lbp purchase. The lady said that she got a call from head office saying that the new discs should be arriving at EB central (whatever that is) this weekend and then be distributed to the various stores throughout the week.

Torch .... get out there!
edit: just checked some other forums and it looks like it's popping up in Ontario too. My gut tells me that much like NHL it'll take a day to get out here, but I'm still going to call around. None of the eb's i've called thus far are picking up.
Edit: EB games in North Hill Mall just confirmed they've received it. Trade in any 3 games worth $8 and you can get it for free!
