I know this is an old thread and this is a bit off topic, but I know an older guy who just this summer was told he needed a tonsillectomy. His throat had been soar for a few months and he finally got it checked out. When the procedure was done they biopsied his tonsils and found throat cancer.

Instead of Popsicles and Jell-O, he's getting chemo.

Scary stuff.

Am I the only one thinking the right thing to do for my kids is get their tonsils out while they're young, just in case? An adult tonselectomy sounds barbaric.

Some people grow to never have problems with their tonsils, I never had any problems as a kid but now they were getting so large and obstructing my breathing at night.

Well, I have an appointment with the ENT tomorrow I was going to ask her but I was definitely going to try to get on the ice, I'm a goalie so it's a bit more relaxed. I am definitely not 100% of the strength I was before the surgery.

Myself and my brother and sister had ours taken out when we were kids. Personaly i think all children should have them taken out.

My brother had his out when he was around 7 years old. I remember him being home from the hospital and eating popsicles and ice cream for a couple of days and then he was back outside playing in the neighborhood with the rest of us kids. It sounds a million times easier than what the adults are going through.

I remember getting my tonsils out as a kid and asking my mom if there was anything else they could remove as I'd never had so much ice cream before, I had a crush on the day nurse and I got out of school.
