LOL, my brother and I grew up watching 80s comedies like Spies Like Us, Dragnet, and The Three Amigos. Hilarious stuff, and not as crude as today's comedies.

Can't go wrong with the Kubrick and Hitchcock bodies of work.

Another good movie I recently saw was The Searchers. I had heard a lot about this movie, how it was John Wayne's favourite role, and how it influenced a number of major films for decades following its release, including Star Wars. In fact, when you watch The Searchers you can see that it blazed the trail for several notorious movie scenes.

It is an epic movie, set throughout the Western USA over a span of 5 or 6 years. As a 50's era western, it does have some slow parts, and the action sequences lack the punch and realism that we are now accustomed to. But it is an impressive and influential film, and it's story and characters have haunted me since I saw it.

Like Flip mentioned. The Party is absolutly hilarious you will be laughing so hard you might pee your pants.

A few off the top of my head that I don't think have been mentioned.

Red River (John Wayne classic western, B&W)
The Legend of Billie Jean (80's teen classic)
The Terminator
Dog Day Afternoon. (Al Pachino as a bank robber)
Pride of the Yankees (Lou Gehrig story, Babe Ruth plays himself)
8 Men Out (story of the 1919 Black Soxs)
Knute Rockne, All American (story of legendary Notre Dame football coach)
Gone with the Wind (Classic)
Cat Ballou (Jane Fonda, Lee Marvin (histarical as a drunk))
Viva Las Vegas (I know its a cheesy Elvis film, but Ann Margaret is so hot)
King Kong (the 1933 original)
Foot loose (another 80's classic)

Many of my favourites are already up there, including almost anything by Alfred Hitchcock (Rear Window is probably one of the best movies of all time), Aliens, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Goodfellas, Shawshank Redemption etc...

Some others that bear mentioning:

• At Play in the Fields of the Lord (1991)
• Highlander (1986)
• The Mosquito Coast (1986)
