It really bugs me when people say things like this. I think many of us are in a similar situation where we don't like any candidate, but the bottom line is you really should vote. After the election somebody is going to form the next gov't; even if just the family of the people running are the only ones who vote.

This isn't like going to the bar to pick somebody up; and if you don't like what you see you can just go home alone. In this case if you don't pick somebody then other people will pick for you.

Landed on WRA... though if Calgary Hays goes anything but PC, I'd be flabbergasted.

I didn't get my absentee ballot for some reason. I would be voting for Dave Taylor, the liberal incumbent in Calgary Currie, but I guess I'm sitting this one out.

It'll be the first election I've missed in my life.

It'll be interesting if the results provincially mirror those on this board. The vast majority are choosing one of the two conservative parties, but with the vote split we might see the Liberals making some surprising inroads. Not enough to win a majority or anything crazy like that, but I wouldn't be shocked if they gained between 5 and 10 seats. That "first-past-the-post" system can have unusual results sometimes.

I'm trying to figure out where the polling station is, but the alberta elections site is brutally slow.
Anyone else in calgary currie? Where did you vote at?

4X4 its hard to say. Not everyone in Currie votes at the same place. If you phone one of the campaign offices and tell them your address though they can tell you. Dave Taylor is the Liberal for you and Arthur Kent is the PC. I don't know who the others are, but one of those offices can tell you where you vote.

Yeah... Just got through to the info line. She told me to go to the South Calgary community center. I asked her the question that you answered, and no, not everyone in currie goes to the same place.

Happy voting, everyone! I saw a sign for Barry Erskine in the neighbourhood. He's independant. I remember that he was an alderman in Calgary before the last election that, IIRC, he decided not to run for because he wanted to spend more time with his family. At least I thought he was the one that said that.
So he either BS'd or else remembered that he likes public life. I'm going to check his website before I go vote, but regardless, he'll probably get my vote. Unless he's hard core left or right. Decisions, decisions...

The PC Candidate in my riding is a 28 year old who's political hero is Ronald Regan. No thanks.

The Liberal candidate is a weirdo. No thanks. Its too bad because Taft seems to be a decent guy that doesn't give me the same vibe that an "Upper Canadian" Liberal radiates.

The NDP candidate is an NDP candidate... but it seems like he's got a lot of support in the area. NDP is pretty much a death sentence for business, and that just doesn't fly with me.

The social credit party candidate bombed my mailbox with more crappy junk mail than anyone else. No Jim, I M NOT READY.

The WRA candidate is none other than First Lady, and I like their fiscal policies but after many discussions on this board their social policy/legacy seems dubious at best.

I'll probably vote WRA tonight.

Voted Liberal, many because of my MLA, David Swann, as opposed to the party.

Weird. I just voted green. I don't know why. I suppose it's because I kinda want them on the radar a bit more so that the parties in power take environmental issues a little more seriously.
I'm no tree hugger, but there are things that I wish were laws. Like old beaters that burn oil. Get them off the road.
Mandatory emissions testing. That'd be nice.

I think i'm holding my nose and voting liberal, there are some valid points in this thread about electing the liberals in the city because they won't get any votes outside of it and if you want to get rid of Ed like myself one sure way to do that is put a dent in their majority.

Bring along your drivers license, and some kind of a letter (preferably a bill that has your name and current address on it.

The PCs have slipped a bit in my mind, but they are still easily the best choice, IMO. The Liberals would be a bad thing for the province, the NDPs would be much worse yet, and the WRA probobly aren't quite ready to be the government. I'd let them mature a bit.

I'd like to see the PCs retain power, but have a message sent to them that they need a good charismatic leader again. Someone like Ralphy was for most of his term, excluding the last year or two.

I take it you live in the Ramsay/Inglewood area. I hardly believe he "cares about others". And seriously, watching the debates on youtube again last night, what kind of evil zombie robot is leader of the WRA? He makes Stephen Harper seem like Mother freakin' Teresa, with about as much humanity as a block of wood.
