That is correct. But if your kid has a baby with someone with blond hair and blue eyes, then their child could have blond hair and blue eyes.

My mother has brown eyes, my father has green, and my oldest sister has blue eyes. All of her kids have blue eyes. Myself and my other sisters all have brown eyes and so do all the rest of my nieces and nephews.

Can't genetic mutations be transferred via external mediums? Such as a retro-virus?

Surprising how little knowledge people have about some pretty basic things.

Here's how genetics works

Blue eyes is a recessive gene, Brown is a dominate gene

Say both your parents have brown eyes, it is possible that you can have blue eyes

...................................from father
............................ Brown............................Blue
From mother- Brown- Brown Brown ................ Brown Blue
...................Blue-...Blue Brown.....................Blue Blue

Where there is a Brown, the child will have brown eyes, but there is one that has two blues, therefore it will have blue eyes. There's a 25% chance of that happening and a 75% chance that it will have a blue gene

My husband and I both have brown eyes. Our daughter has greenish eyes, sometimes they are somewhat hazel. Our son has beautiful, pale blue eyes, like my grandfather on my mother's side. Even when our son was 2 years old, my father insisted those pale blue eyes might change))

I don't know much about genetics but i do know that human eye colour is a polygenic trait.

Simple blue recessive, brown dominant etc. doesn't really begin to explain it.

edit: quick little search and I found this link.
