Starts with having trades posted - some GMs don't announce trades.

But I agree - I think trade feedback is great. More of it is welcome!

It's very rare that I respond to others trades made...
simply put I just think it's rude to make negative comments about someones trade, most times you don't know the ins and outs of the trade or what directions someone is trying to accomplish... nor the history of the player they are moving.

for example, one move where I dumped Reasoner to the bruins for two projects forwards.... a trade that was hailed as a great move by the Bruins, what isn't known is how Reasoner took a huge hit in the individual ratings that took his role away from my team and left him getting 5 minutes of ice time of the fourth line. Without the option to move him to another position and not having a strong playoff hope it was a waste to have that sort of asset wasting away on fourth line duties. He'll have a better chance of getting a better rating on not so strong of s defensive forward team.

So if I was another GM looking at this trade, I might just as easily replied something along the lines of "great trade for bruins, nice job" but I don't think it's really fair to weight a deal just black and white like that. Ask me in MSN about what I thought of your deal and I'm always happy to add my thoughts but to publicly make a quick negative comment on a message board, well I'll leave that to the others thats don't give a crap

Yeah, but again thats a situation where a GM can post and explain his/her side of the story. Other GM's may not care for it or get it, but you can make the explanation.

Yeah, I think its good when GMs post their side of the story (like you have above, Doug). Getting who-won-the-trade debates are good for the league.

Well there is also a difference between commenting on a deal/being outright rude.

It's okay to say "nice deal for Boston. I feel Reasoner will help the depth on that team". That is fine imo. What is not fine though is "what the heck are you doing Doug? You got raped in that deal. Not even close"

They both suggest in that case Boston did a good job in the deal but one is constructive feedback while the other is being an arse.

PS......I don't even know what the deal was, I was using your example.

I just don't want to make a GM feel like they have to defend their trade because of my comments. I too like when GM's add their perspective to the deal but what I'm more or less talking is about the mind boggling trade, the you gave of who for that!!! then the poor GM's thats on the sad side of the deal has to step infront of a shooting gallery trying to defend his trade..

I don't know, I guess it's just because I just don't feel it's my place to knock anyones else's trade. I'm cool if it's me being racked over the coals but you want find me being one of the guys doing the stoning.

It goes without saying I'm pretty much only talking about the one sided deals

There's nothing about that deal. just a poor example i used from a trade i did without picking at someone else's. it's a nothing deal for both sides to be honest.

The thing is if you have 15 GM's saying, great deal for Boston, it's just a polite way of saying Ha HA Hurricanes.

PS I'm just talking here and more or less commenting why I don't add my comments that much to other teams deal and am no way saying others should act as I do. I just notice that I don't, and added one of the reasons why I'm careful about how I view others deals

Bump. At least 2 GMs are still doing this. Annoying! You message me and then when I try to reply it says you aren't online because you've got it manually set that way.

Please common courtesy. Don't do this.
