Damn you MQS that was my pick for worst song ever, nothing can top how bad that song is.

New Kids on the Block had a bunch of hits
Chinese food makes me sick
And I think it's fly when girls stop by for the summer
For the summer
I like girls that wear Abercrombie and Fitch
I'd take her if I had one wish
But she's been gone since that summer..Since that summer

Doesn't get much more deep than that.

But some good music groups, but song that suck IMO include

Led Zeppelin - Kashmir - good first minute but after that blah.
Joe Cocker + Jennifer Warnes (I think) - Up where we belong.
Name a whitney houston song.
White Snake - Anything they did.
But the one that might be able to top them all
Hot Butter - Popcorn

Timebomb by Rancid.

Some good ones have been named above including Don't want to miss a thing - Aerosmith, Who let the Dogs Out, Takin Care of Business, My Sharona, MMMMMBop.

Songs which aren't deserving of their mentions so far in this thread are Kashmir (Zeppelin), Baby got back, Baby I got your money, Money (Floyd) and 1979 (Pumpkins.) Those are all decent or better IMO.

Some bands or songs I would add in addition to Timebomb would be anything Blink 182, Achy Breaky Heart, When a man loves a woman, 99 Luft Balloons, She's so High (Tal Bachman), Two Princes (Spin Doctors), She Bangs (Ricky Martin), Hangin Tough (NKOTB), Don't worry be happy, Ice Ice Baby (Vanilla Ice), Everybody Have Fun Tonight (Wang Chung), We built this city (Starship), Saturday Night (Bay City Rollers), Sk8er Boi, I am woman, Micahel Bolton, Sting, The Candyman (can?), Kenny G, Can't Touch This (MC Hammer), Feelings, Whoop There It is (gawd!), William Shatner etc.

Did I mention Achy Breaky Heart by Billie Ray Cyrus?

As for the Beatles, Ob La Di isn't nearly as bad as Yellow Submarine IMO.

That song is hilarious. Whenever I hear it I get images of an early 80's West German Dance Bar in my head and I can't help but laugh.

Octopus's Garden's the worst Beatles song, however (but damn is it catchy as hell)

Anything by Celine Dion hasn't been mentioned yet

most of the songs mentioned are meh, IMO

I hate the Smashing Pumpkins, so 1979, Tonight Tonight (again a song that makes me want to kill, and I"m not a violent person but bad music has the effect on me)

but

POPCORN - by Hot Butter is an awesome song, I love it, how can it not put a smile on your face, it's catchy, and seems like I dunno just a happy song.

hmmm other songs I hate:

hmmmm, see good songs I can go through my MP3 collection, but bad, truely aweful I don't generally keep

Scream for the Screaming Eagles - Laurel Martell (ugh HATE that song)
You Just Can't Stop The Moose (boooo Mooseheads)

what about "It's Raining Men" by Gerri Haliwell of the Weather Girls (mind you if Homer Simpsons likes a song it can't be all bad)

That Donna Summers song "MacArthur Park" she's singing about a freaking cake, that she made without a recipe, never ate is, and is p*ssed that she left it in the rain... did I get that right?????

funny:

L'Oceanique (it's cheesey I love it, but bad nonetheless - Rimouski Oceanique theme)
Super Bowl Shuffle - 1986 Chicago Bears
Chocolate Strawberry - Run DMC feat. Darryl Strawberry
Let's Go Les Tigres - 2002 playoff song for Victoriaville

man I'm having a mental block with I can only think of 4 cheesey sports songs

anyone wants those songs jonpatterson@hotmail.com I'm more than happy to send them along

Feelings

Feelings, nothing more than feelings,
trying to forget my feelings of love.
Teardrops rolling down on my face,
trying to forget my feelings of love.

Feelings, for all my life I'll feel it.
I wish I've never met you, girl; you'll never come again.

Feelings, wo-o-o feelings,
wo-o-o, feel you again in my arms.

Feelings, feelings like I've never lost you
and feelings like I've never have you again in my heart.

Feelings, for all my life I'll feel it.
I wish I've never met you, girl; you'll never come again.

Feelings, feelings like I've never lost you
and feelings like I've never have you again in my life.

Feelings, wo-o-o feelings,
wo-o-o, feelings again in my arms.
Feelings...(repeat & fade)

What about that stupid graduation song about sunscreen? I'd nominate that one, it if even counts as a song.

I find it difficult to come up any other reasonable offerings here. I think if a song is good enough (at that particualr time, and in somone's opinion, even if it's only one person), the song has some redeeming value, if not to you, then to somebody out there.

I guess if we're looking for "the most un-liked song of all time" (if that's even a legit phrase), then most of the songs mentioned fit just fine. But if you want to hear the worst song of all time, high school garage bands have no equals.

C and C MUsic Factory I thouhgt it was... Maybe Snap though. Actually liked all those early electronica/rap/dance groups.

Thought of it even before I opened the thread, but it's already been posted a few times. 'Who let the dogs out?' That Aerosmith one sucks too. There's lots that I think suck, but they are mostly pop or pop/R&B

Ob-La-Dee is a great song. Nothing wrong with it.

Comments I have to take exception to: it wasn't the White Album that secured the Beatles spot as legendary musicians as opposed to legendary pop phenomenon. It happened much earlier than that. Sgt. Peppers was probably their first truly great album but they started to grow out of their pop crap around the time of Help! and later.

Led Zeppelin - Kashmir is one of the worst songs ever? Er, yeah. Maybe you don't like it, but with the number of pure sh*t songs there are, you'd vote for that? Gotcha.

As for the worst song ever...

Probably "Who Let the Dogs Out".

Honorable mention goes to anything by:

Limp Bizkit, Avril Lavigne, N'Sync, Backstreet Boys, Good Charlotte, Staind, Blink 182, Eve 6, and any of the other million similarly derivative and completely worthless bands there are.

No kidding, Kashmir is my favorite Zep song and one of my fav songs of all time! Like Popcorn too, but I have a strange obsession with odd 80's pop hits. The stranger the better. Whip It, Rock Lobster, Shock the Monkey, Da Da Da, etc. All great!

The smashing pumpkins on this list twice?!?!

blasphemy...

I would count Tonight Tonight as one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded...

That song along with 1979, Muzzle and Bullet with butterfly wings carved out a hole new empire of music called "alternative rock".

But, I understand that this is a subjective/opinion based topic, so I am not trying to demean or look down upon anyone who disagrees with me when I say...

BLASPHEMY!!!
