Football was the best thing that ever happened to me apart from one night outside of Houston.

Taught me the same things it taught you.

Taught me to never take crap from anyone ever no matter the consequences.
Taught me to never swallow my opinion, only my pride.
Taught me that there are more important things in life than Football.
Taught me that being a man, is more than just having an apendage, its about standing up and fighting when others are sitting.

Your post stung a bit because I had an offer from UBC after rehab but I was still choked about not playing NCAA that I thought Canadian University football would be a step backwards (I wasnt in a good place then in grade 12) - that is my second worst decision.

Oh crap. Mass confusion. Ya, I'm assuming Fotze is talking about your "worst" post. I read it after I made mine and thought "could I put my foot in my mouth ANY more?"

Glad you didn't take it the wrong way. And ya, football ruled. I still get an ache in my gut every September, when CIS football is starting up.

I'm incredibly jealous of you two. My dad basically screwed me over and I only got to play one year of HS ball.

My best decision easily was moving to Switzerland and working there for a year. The places I got to see and the things I learned about myself have become invaluable. The people I met over there and the things I saw have influenced who I am now.

Apart from the Swiss themselves, the thing that amazed me about Swizterland the most was the infrastructure. Calgary balks at the cost of an overpass, the swiss have nothing but overpasses stretching high above the mountain floor - just amazing.

I also loved the underground mall in Lucerne, first time I ever saw a self server grocery store setup like a vending machine. Also the first time I saw a German Shephard as big as a horse with police that carried automatic weapons (I went to Kuwait a week later so I was less surpirsed when I saw it there - I just never expected to see that in a "western" country). 9-11 changed that obviously in the US.

The Swiss' infrastructure was nothing less than outstanding. I had my face glued to the window throughout the entire train ride through the Alps. The one thing that truly impressed me was their public transportation. Every single bus stop had a big map of where all the buses went, what time they would show up, etc. And buses were on time. We're not talking within 5 min....we're talking on the second. And you could take a bus or a train anywhere in the entire country. Even the smallest towns could be accessed by some combination of trains and buses.

Same for me, I have a lot of "footage" of the roads when taking the train. Normally really boring but that and the Blonde chick with the enormous rack and really short frilly skirt at this small town in the Alps (right out of sound of music German type gold hair) who let me take a very nice pic of her is what all the questions are about. Alot of people dont believe me when I say, yup those are the roads, they dont skower the floor, they are built up and over.

Best Decision

That's easy. Deciding to keep the baby the me and my wife (now)concieved before we were married.

I know it happens but at the time it was a very difficult decision. One that has turned my life into what I hoped it always would be.

Best decisions?

1) Asking my wife to marry me.
2) Deciding to learn to skate and play hockey for the very first time at the age of 30.
3) Buying our condo during prebuild at half the price it would have cost had we bought post build.

For me, it's gotta be the decision I made to get into the emergency services field. I'm only 19, so that may be why I don't have a lot of "decisions" to choose from, but for all the bad stuff we put up with in our job, to know you helped ONE person in a life-changing way is the best feeling and thus the best decision I've ever made thus far.
