I loved those when I was a kid. Hardy Boys as well. The Bobbsey Twins. Judy Blume, Roald Dahl, any hockey books by Frank Orr. I read a ton when I was young.

Boy Kerm I have mentioned that series to countless people and no one else had read it. Glad to finally find someone that did. I thought it was fantastic.
I also read a lot of Judy Blume books - SuperFudge is the only one I remember the name of though.
Gordon Kormon was another author I read. Again - having a hard time remembering specific titles though.
Of course CS Lewis, and also The Belgariard serie from the fantasy realm.

Jillian Jiggs and Pippi Longstocking. Girls who got into trouble. I still remember;
Jillian, Jillian, Jillian Jiggs! It looks like your room has been lived in by pigs!
She was good.

David Eddings is the author of that series. He has several other multi-book series and they're all great ... except for his current one.

Wonderful Flight to the Mushroom Planet.
I think something clicked when I read that book. I became a life-long reader.

When it's done, could you post some pictures please?
Nice that there's been a few of you that mentioned the Hardy Boys. My brother and I read 'em big time. As well, when my father came to Canada from Germany in the fifties as a teen, he learned English by reading the Hardy Boys and Zane Grey novels.
I'm not sure if many of you are aware of this, but former HNIC great Brian McFarlane's father Leslie wrote a lot of the earlier Hardy Boy novels under the pseudonym Franklin W. Dixon.
When I was eleven, I got the whole Little House on the Prairie set by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I read them, but I sure didn't let my friends see them.

Great call. I loved those books...I would read all of the possible permutations and combinations. Yes...I was a loser.
I was addicted to R.L. Stine books but not the Goosebumps series...they weren't scary enough. I didn't like Christopher Pike books though...

When I was in grade 2 and 3 my teacher read those books to the class. I don't remember anything more than the title though...except that I liked them a lot.
Lots of great blasts from the past in this thread.

I loved anything by Judy Blume. Superfudge was probably my favorite and I used to love anything from the Ramona series. Oddly enough, I believe there was a Ramona TV adaption on Access or KSPS and Superfudge was part of the ABC Saturday morning lineup. They were never as good as the books.

4X4 - the book you are referring to with the dogs is my all time favorite kid book that I still read occassionally called Where the Red Fern Grows. I still cry everytime. I love it.
Sainters7 - Sideways Stories from Wayside School, I used to enjoy those as well.
I was also a huge fan of books by Martyn Godfrey when I was in elementary. I'm pretty sure he had even come to my school one year and I joined his book club. Something like Please Remove your Elbow From My Ear i remember liking because it had floor hockey in it, and I think another one was called There's a Cow in my Swimming Pool.

Oh and yes, defintaely those Christopher Pike books!
Hehe my first job ever was working at the Fort McMurray Public Library when I was in Grade 10. I used to read a lot, and even on my break. I don't read enough anymore.....it's all the Internet's fault

I used to read a lot of Piers Anthony books. I couldn't get enough of them.
I also really enjoyed Arthur C. Clarke's stuff, and read a lot of books of random factual information about the world and how things worked, or about dinosaurs and cats and stuff.
Piers Anthony was the one author that I really couldn't stop reading though.

In Preschool I remember checking out the Spot Books. Then when I was in ECS I used to get Curious George and the Where's Waldo picture books, ha ha! Then in grades 1-4 it was things like Hardy Boys, Goosebumps and Stephen King books.
Edit: Can't believe I forgot about Superfudge and Fudgemania!
