Yeah, they decided to put it on the side of a hill so it could drain into the Fort Saskatchewan for easy cleaning.

What is this great claim that Edmonton has about a "river valley"? I'm pretty sure, 99% of all cities in the world are in river valleys. Calgary has two.

The River Valley in both cities the the main difference between the two. Edmonton actually ha a Valley which is very nice to run/bike/walk in but servers as a sever detriment to travel especially with all the NIMBYs in the valley. Its why Edmonton's downtown will never be as vibrant as Calgary's.

Calgary doesnt have that problem, but it also doesnt have what makes the River Valley great, an actual Valley.

I forgetwho I had a confersation with about Calgary being a worold class city,

It was about Cairo....

I asked the fella, who was questioning Cowvilles "member" as compared to...in the world. EVERYONE WANTS TO VISIT CAIRO VERSUS who would live in Calgary instead? Same as Edmonton...more so since we have winning teams.

I read somewhere that 30% of Canadians aren't literate.

It's just like cleavage except it's with the ground, not boobs.

I thought that might drive it home for ya

So if it's just ground cleavage, then Calgary must have a couple.

Hard to believe when Edmonton Airport only has 5 million passangers a year and Calgary Airport has 10 million.

I think alot of that has to do with Calgary having more flights, so Edmontonians fly through here to get to Europe or other cities in the states.

There is a push though for Edmonton to get their own direct flights to Frankfurt, Amsterdam, and more US destinations

I know that. But just by having 5 million more than Edmonton shows that more people actually visit Calgary.

By that logic, Regina would beat both Calgary & Edmonton by a landslide.

I suspect it's the lack of big business and office towers concentrating people that will ultimately keep Edmonton's feeble "downtown", feeble. That and a mall that diverts tourists and residents elsewhere.

This thread is just to stir up crap, and honestly from everyone that I meet who are not from Alberta all say Calgary is more fun than Edmonville. With the Klondike Day thing gone and the x days? are whatever it's called now the main summer festival maybe it will be better than the Calgary Stampede! yeah right
