Not timetable for Chacin's return. Not good. Also means that taking Towers out of the starting rotation simply isn't an option right now.

That's also often code for "60 day DL".

Sounds like its more of a wait and see thing right now. Very similar to the problems Burnett is experiencing

BTW - a great play by John Macdonald in the game tonight. Big fly into the rafters in T-bay that gets caught up in a cat walk that is in play. Outfielders lose it and have no idea where it is. John Mac sprints out to shallow outfield and when the ball works itself out and drops down he makes an over the shoulder catch. Tremendous

Jays down though right now 4-1.

Another gem by the Doc yesterday. Is there a better pitcher in baseball over the past few years? I really don't think so.

In addition, the Jays would be -at least- tied with New York/Boston for the division if it wasn't for Josh Towers' perfect season. Even if he was 2-5 instead of 0-7, they'd be two games ahead of where they are right now. ARGH!

Gotta (finally) give Towers some credit.........by far his best perfromance of the season. Cruising along having thrown less than 70 pitches heading into the 9th, gives up a 2-run shot in the 9th, but FINALLY gets his first win of the season. Looks like he and Molina were talking all game long between innings about Towers' delivery and technique. Looks like they found something and Josh corrected it. Hope this gives his confidence a massive boost (how could it not?) and he starts stringing together a few wins.

9th inning aside, fantastic game by Towers. At least this start his worst inning was the last one (when the Jays already had a huge lead) instead of crapping the bed sometime in the first 4 innings.

Towers sure needed that lol

One of the things I've really enjoyed this season is how good that 1, 2 tandem of Molina and Zaun have been behind the plate. Maybe the best in baseball?

They Jays have a couple of good tandems going right now. Reed Johson and Cat are combining to create a darn good 3rd outfielder as well. A little lacking in the power area but other than that can't complain. Jays fans who are clamoring to trade one or the other don't understand that neither can play full time but when put in this type of platoon role, they both excel.

Janssen is at it again.

1 hit ball through 7 innings tonight. No walks either. Simply outstanding pitching.

Game over for Janssen, 8.0 IP, 2 hits, 0 walks, 0R, 0ER, 3Ks.

Amazing outting, a little choked he didn't get the call in the 9th.

Good call by Gibbons in my opinion - it'd be nice for the kid to throw a complete game shutout, but a three run lead is still very much in doubt.

When you have probably the best closer in the game right now he should be out there every chance you can put him out there. Wins are more important than statistics.

Things are looking good for the Jays. They are finally starting to put together more wins than losses. They have still yet to sweep, or be swept in a series so far this season.

Glaus should be back in the lineup tomorrow. Hopefully Hillenbrand too. With Halladay on the mound, I like our chances.

Three hits in 15 innings against the Angels. That is one hell of a stretch. I'm sure Anaheim is more than happy to know they wont see this kid again for a while.

Janssen's had a pretty quick trek to the majors. A 4th round pick coming from A ball last year. Nice to see that the Angels had as tough a time the second time around with him. Often rooks come up and do pretty good their first time through the loop but get figured out. Jassen doesn't throw real hard, but has great control, and the Angels claim that his ball has good late movement.

Hopefully he keeps it up, the Jays are going to need him until the likes of Chacin, and Burnett can get healthy, and after that they'll still need a good 5th starter to win some games as the competition in the AL will be fierce for the playoffs.

Tremendous extra inning victory by the Jays tonight to take 2 of 3 from the Halos.

More impressive than the win itself was how they did it - led by a trio of much maligned young Jays. Aaron Hill and Russ Adams with big hits in the top of the 10th to give the Jays the 4 run cushion, and Jason Frasor gets the win with a great relief effort.

Wow, the Jays had no business winning this game. Runners on 1st and 3rd in the bottom of the 9th with no outs, and they manage to escape. Then a 4 run 10th completes the improbable win.

Good character win though.

Short fly to left, pop out to 2nd, and K. Nice work by some guys from the bullpen who have struggled.

And that 10th! Were the Angels going to be late for something? As soon as the Jays got a few runs they mailed it in. The Angels appear kind of fragile right now.

Great end to the game last night. WOW what a 9th inning. Good fro Fraser. coming back or the minors. Gets some huge outs in a pressure packed situation. Man is this Jays team a far cry from last year. JP is sure putting a good team together.

Yeah, I was about to turn the game off when Anaheim had a runner on 3rd and nobody out. Glad I didn't. I love the fact that they stuck with Frasor in the 10th to get his confidence up, rather than switch over to Ryan. I guess we probably would have seen Ryan if it had been a one-run lead.
