Can anyone figure out what the Pats are doing?? they let Vinetari walk and they dont resign Willie Mcginest, they have a ton of cap room an they let these guys go, Mcginest signed for about 4 million a year, that is not outlandish by NFl standards, and Vinateria is so solid.. i give the pats the benefit of the doubt, because of what they have accomplished but it is perplexing...

They don't want to take up too much cap space on players who may be past their prime (McGinest) and a kicker. Viniateri is the highest paid kicker in the NFL now. The money they save there might outweigh the drop-off the encounter at the position by 4 or 5 times.
Give them the benefit of the doubt. When this cap first went into effect I questioned Mike Shanahan's moves for about 3 springs in a row. I don't question him anymore. The Pats are making similar moves.

So the Niners pick up Larry Allen. I thought he ran out of gas the last few years. Maybe it is to help train the young line, or maybe Norv Turner thinks he can get Larry back on track.

Not a free agent thing, but NFL none the less:
The Houston Texans have emerged as the team most interested in trading for disgruntled Bills receiver Eric Moulds, who has vowed he won't return to Buffalo.

always been a fan of his, veteran for sure, quality posession guy, could get him to pick up his game and play a lot harder
big pick up for houston me thinks, playing opposite andre johnson, double threat should help out carr with finding the single coverage
now only if they had some sort of O-Line to give mr.carr some time.....

Anyone nitice the deal Nate Burleson got from Seattle? 7 Years, 49 million dollars, with clauses that say if he plays any 5 games in the state of Minnesota in any year, the entire contact becomes guaranteed. Or if his contract is greater than the value of all runningbacks, it becomes guaranteed.

Exactly, he will never trip those clauses in Seattle - but if the Vikings matched it would have tripped both of them. An "in your face" to Minnesota for doing a similar thing to Seattle.

If I'm not mistaken the RB clause was just for Minnesota...Seattle doesn't have to live by those terms.
