Supposedly Ryabkin showed up to the combine fat. Why would we take the C version of Andre Medvedev. Too many food options in the NHL.

IIRC Rasmus Andersson finished at the bottom of nearly all the combine fitness testing in his draft year.

Don't move up, use all their draft picks....this scouting staff seems to be able to find value in later rounds.

Unless he came out and told the Flames to pound sand, he's not interested in being drafted by CGY, probably a good idea to take a risk and grab Ryabkin at 54 if he's still on the board.
Legit 1st round talent with legit #1C upside.

Based on the below, I’m really hoping the Flames draft Ryabkin. I also found Theo Stockselius and Mateo Norbert pretty intriguing given his combination of production, birth month, position and height. Blake Fiddler also looks good.
Draft Targets for Day 2 (Some of Wheeler’s prospects, listed in Wheeler’s order, with Bader’s ranking noted in the lines if he has them in his top 32)
Tier 5
Malcolm Spence - 19 for Bader - LH W - 6’ 2” - 73 points in 65 games in OHL - September 2006 birthday (very old)
Jakob Ihs-Wozniak - not in top 32 for Bader - RH W - 6’ 2” - 57 points in 40 games in S J20 - February birthday
Milton Gastrin - not in top 32 for Bader - LH C - 6’ 1” - 42 points in 40 games in S J20 - June birthday
Ivan Ryabkin - 21 for Bader - LH C - 5’ 11” - amazing D-1 year (58 points in 44 games in MHL), so-so D year (30 points in 27 games in USHL), controversial - April birthday
Blake Fiddler - 27 for Bader - RH D - 6’ 4” - physical, defensive but 33 points in 64 games in WHL - July birthday
William Moore - not in top 32 for Bader - LH C - 6’ 2” - 21 points in 25 games in USHL - March birthday
Jack Murtagh - 24 for Bader - LH C/W - 6’ 1” - 18 points in 24 games in USHL - August birthday (very young)
Eric Nilson - not in top 32 for Bader - RH C - 6’ 0” - 38 points in 37 games in S J20 - May birthday
Tier 6
Cameron Schmidt - 20 for Bader - RH W - 5’ 7” - 78 points in 61 games in WHL - January birthday
Adam Benak - not in top 32 for Bader - LH C - 5’ 7” - 59 points in 56 games in USHL - April birthday
Cole McKinney - not in top 32 for Bader - RH C - 6’ 0” - 26 points in 23 games in USHL - March birthday
L.J. Mooney - not in top 32 for Bader - RH C - 5’ 7” - 28 points in 26 games in USHL - March birthday
Alexander Zharovsky - 23 for Bader - LH W - 6’ 1” - 50 points in 45 games in MHL - February birthday
Jack Ivankovic - G
Shane Vansaghi - not in top 32 for Bader - RH W - 6’ 2” - 16 points in 37 games in NCAA - October birthday (very old)
Simon Wang - not in top 32 for Bader - LH D - 6’ 6” - 2 points in 32 games in OHL - July birthday
Kurban Limatov - not in top 32 for Bader - LH D - 6’ 4” - 23 points in 46 games in MHL - March birthday
Nathan Behm - not in top 32 for Bader - RH W - 6’ 2” - 66 points in 59 games in WHL - April birthday
Daniil Prokhorov - not in top 32 for Bader - LH W - 6’ 6” - 27 points in 43 games in MHL - April birthday
Tier 7
Theo Stockselius - not in top 32 for Bader - LH C/W - 6’ 3” - 51 points in 40 games in S J20 - July birthday
Mateo Norbert - 32 for Bader - LH C - 6’ 0” - 67 points in 57 games in QMJHL - August birthday (very young)
