Or… there are hundreds and thousands of discussions with the majority being low ball offers, and only the top couple percent actually lead to trades

Never fall too in love with your older players.

In a few years they'll all be deadweight eating up roster spots, unless we buy out the remainder of the contracts.

I hope discussions were had.

Can we ad a poll to this thread to give the Flames a grade?

Not necessarily today, but it feels like a wasted opportunity this season to not have weaponized our cap space with some sort of retention trade.

I get not wanting to for two years, but there were opportunities before today to have used it.

Wow. Not even the obligatory "5th rounder for a depth defenseman who does nothing and leaves as a free agent"

I believe that it was the cmpdave guy on twitter that said he heard the return that conny was asking for Anderson was unrealistically high. Wouldn’t be surprised if that was for all other vets also. I think conny really wanted to reward this team by keeping it together for now. Granted I still think they have to trade Anderson and a forward this summer.

Is the league colluding to lowball the Flames.

Probably not. It's more likely that Conroy probably wasn't as open to trading anyone at the deadline.

Royle has told us he wanted an offer that blew his socks off for Andersson. What that is who knows, but I can't see teams sending multiple 1sts for a quickly declining player that is going to command a big deal.

Driving a hard bargain is not a bad long term strategy. Especially since he has 365 days to trade Andersson.

I meant hundreds and thousands of lowball offers across the league. Not just for the Flames.

I am shocked after we got all those Gifs over the last week.

Last time I ever buy the Gif hype!

Here's the trade tracker. It doesn't look like there was any market for a DMan similar to Rasmus:

Was really hoping for a Cozens-like acquisition or an Andersson trade. Glad we didn't spend assets on depth though. I get why Conroy didn't make any moves but still a little disappointed

Give it a rest. You're acting like there aren't hundreds of rumours that don't pan out every year.

It sounded like the Flames WERE in on Cozens but decided not to pay. The Gifs weren’t hype.

They have Kadri, Coleman, Backlund, Weegar, and Andersson as vets with varying levels of value. Andersson is the only one with limited trade protection and an easy move this deadline and I’m not going to get heated after what happened with Markstrom last year. Coleman’s and Kadri’s contracts lengths are probably more of deterrent than a value add at this point. If those guys move it will be in the off-season after July 1st.

That sounds more like an Oilers thing does it not.

Unless they swung for another Frost type deal it makes sense to not do much. Weird that they priced themselves out of salary retention flipping.
