Flames facing Oilers-East tonight. They are looking ever more top-heavy with below average defence and goaltending. The Oilers seem to be their model at the moment.
With that being said, they seem to be reeling. They SHOULD be angry and desperate tonight, and should come out hard, but maybe they won't. That's a team that seems a bit nonchalant about things right now for some weird reason.
At any rate, if the Flames can weather the initial storm, and keep Mathews and Nylander in-check most of the night, they should roll over this team and their immensely annoying fanbase.

I remember prior to Brodie walking and Tanev signing, I was among those on CP who were ADAMANT that Brodie and Tanev were close, but that Brodie was the better defenceman because he was closer to Tanev in terms of defensive play, but a much better skater and puck mover than Tanev. Boy, was I ever wrong! Brodie has really gone downhill in Toronto since they signed him.

Wish the Flames kept both. I think Brodie 'sucks' now (don't think he sucks, but definitely isn't as good) because of how Keefe has that team playing. They play defence like Edmonton does. Nobody trusts each other out there. Craig Button did an excellent job breaking it down yesterday or the day before on TSN. I agreed with his take on it.

We better be ready to start, Keefe just had a big chew out meeting with his team and they should be fired up to end the skid. Their D is crap as is their goaltending, gotta bag this one.

I was one of the ones that was happy to see Brodie go. His defensive gasps every game were not worth the puck moving ability he had.

Rather have Klapka in than Dube. Dube is about as useful as a mouthless dog in a frisbee catching competition.

Makes me wonder why the Flames didn't put Monahan on LTIR rather than trading away a 1st to get rid of 1 year of his salary.

I don't think you were wrong, you can't predict the future and your argument was basically right at the time, Tanev became an even better player in Calgary than he was in Vancouver and Brodie fell off. One of Treliving's few unarguable wins in the UFA market.

Tanev was really good in Vancouver but he didn't have much help
Brodie was the opposite he played with a veteran star in Calgary

Brodie gets shafted around here now that he isn’t a Flame. He was Gio’s best partner (yes, even over Hamilton). Not only did he help Gio win the Norris one year, but he was also our best defenseman during the 2015 playoffs when our top pairing was Brodie and Engelland. The only time he had a rough go was when GG thought it was a grand idea to pair him up with Hamonic.
I’d gladly welcome him back, especially if we are dealing Hanifin and Tanev away. Even if Tanev comes back, I’d love Brodie in the fold as a 4/5.

Brodie was good when he was here, he has fallen off quite a bit though
all I was saying that Tanev was in a tougher spot in Vancouver and maybe that is why people at the time thought Brodie>Tanev when it turned out to be the opposite
Brodie would be fine on a bottom pair for sure...top 4 I don't know
Leafs have the best goal scorer in the league and have 13 regulation wins on January 18th

My coffee and donut bill this morning was 19.89 so I’m taking that as a good omen for the win tonight AND an oilers loss.
