IMO, Bedard has had the hype dropped on him prematurely, much to his disadvantage. He is finding that NHL level players are a HUGE step up from his prior competition, and he is on a team that has no secondary threat, so the kid is not aided by the situation.

The 'Hawk special team systems blow. And I am not sold on Puke Richardson or Derek King as being even competent coaches. But, I don't think that there will be any changes in-season.

This 'Hawk fan is happy with getting the Bedard NHL level reps, but, have no seasional exptectations. I can hardly wait to see the dead weight veterans dumped. I've no use for Perry, Foligno, Donato, or Murphy.

Chaos Giraffe was trending last night after a couple of confusing plays by Tyler Myers

That’s because he plays a different game. I think he was overhyped going into things but McDavid was physically ready to play against men.

Witnessed by 11500 fans give or take. Will be interesting to see if the week night crowds stay at this level. I don't know if needing a new downtown rink excuse flies in Winnipeg like it did with Ottawa because they already have it save the brand new part.

I think attendance will be down across any team that isn’t filling seats on the cheap. It’s probably a 200 dollar night out minimum for two people. A lot of that money went to living costs. I know more than a few folks who are way tighter than they ever thought they’d be with their mortgage payments alone.

Oh, boy.

The biggest problem for Winnipeg has always been that their arena is tiny, and the only way to make the team viable is to sell-out every game. And it is already the eighth-newest building in the League.

I think it's a story to watch. We can have fun ss fans and say the Jets suck. But they were a playoff team last year and they're still competitive. Kyle Connor is a star player to me, and they just signed a couple guys in Schiefele and Hellybyuck who I classify as really good players, Hellybyuck can be argued as being elite. Josh Morrisey is still there too, so it's not like the 90's where all their good players are leaving and being replaced by cheaper unknowns.

The economic conditions are pretty tough for folks right now, and I never saw Winnipeg as a place that was big or affluent enough for people to go spend $300 that often. Nothing against them as fans, I'm not going to NHL games right now. But where I live there's lots of families making double or triple what mine does who can. I don't know if the Manitoba family views a family with 180k income as needy like Albrerta does.

Yeah Winnipeg was always going to be a stretch after the comeback wore off and now with the tough times its not a place you want to have a team.

Its why when people get upset when no one talks about Quebec City should really take a good look at things.

Houston Jets sounds like a great name.

You hit the nail on the head.

I was lucky enough to lock in my mortgage renewal before the rates shot up, but I have a variable-rate line of credit and it's chewing a hole in my wallet. Until I get far enough ahead to pay it off, I'll have to be very careful about discretionary spending.

The Kings and Kraken hit lucky 7 in their games. The Kraken win 7-4 over the Hurricanes. The shots were 36-36 and Carolina's goaltending was their downfall. Dunn had 3 points for the Kraken.

The Kings beat the Wild 7-3. Strange scoring as it was 4-2 after the 1st period and no scoring in the 2nd period. There 4 goals scored in the final period. The Wild were not penalized for the entire, but, were 0/4 on the PP.

The Bruins begin their west coast road trip with a 3-2 victory over the
Sharks. From the post game links.

"The Sharks have lost 12 straight against Boston for their longest losing streak ever against an opponent. The Sharks became the third team ever to go winless when opening the season with four straight games at home. The California Golden Seals had two losses and two ties in 1971-72 and Calgary had three losses and a tie in 1997-98.

The Sharks were dealt a rough opening to the schedule with games against the four division winners from last season: Vegas, Colorado, Carolina and Boston.
This is the first time since the realignment to four divisions in 2013 that a team opened the season by playing all four defending division champs."
