This isn't about cap hit. This may be the moment that you see a great player's career end early. Nobody is missing 2 seasons and a current playoff run just to alleviate a team's cap situation. Anyone missing that amount of time is probably worried they'll never be able to play again, or at least play at the level they were accustomed to.

The joke was funny with Kucherov because it did seem a little convenient, but saying this every time a star player is out long term is getting pretty old. Come up with some new material.
The joke is getting old but if it ain't broke.....just pretend it is to clear cap space the come back in time for the playoffs!!

Just read that article. I think if I were missing 2 seasons I’d probably just go on LTIR and move on. Guessing the team would like to as well since they are in a win now window.

Too bad if that’s the end of him. But quality of life post hockey has to be considered. He’s only 30 and has a long way to go.

I'll make a controversial statement, but I think Landeskog has been fairly overrated over the past few years. He's pretty solid with keeping the puck and lays out the occasional hit, but when the game started getting faster he's not much of a force. Hope he gets better as you'd want anyone with an injury, but I don't see the allure in him being a force day in and out.

He certainly benefited with playing with MacKinnon. A lot. I don't see it as a huge lost tbh. They can use the cap space.

I don't know how anyone can declare he's overrated considering his modest by today's standards salary and 67 points in 69 career playoff games is telling of a player that gets things done when it matters. His leadership intangibles as team captain is also something getting overlooked. The Avs are a much better team when he's in the lineup.

Every Avs fan friend I've asked about Landeskog are quite upset that he's going to be out. He brings things to their team that were sorely missed this year.

Yeah it's an odd POV. He's a very productive and complete player, and not having him clearly impacted the Avs.
Stating he's over-rated is hard to understand.

I guess it isn’t the most popular assessment but many make him out to be Zetterberg or the second coming of Forsberg but I haven’t seen him as dominant or as prominent shift after shift.

There's only one Peter Forsberg. I haven't heard him called the second coming but there are parallels in being a Swedish player that plays with skill and grit with leadership skills.

Yup. Might as well try the surgery. The damage is already done. If it doesn't work well enough to continue playing, then he can make that decision. It's just a knee. He can have it totally replaced when he needs to and live a pretty normal life.
