Uhm, yup. But ya, if you read the link I provided they go into all sorts of factors that contribute to this, poverty being one of them.

I was thinking in the context of a person moving to the US who can afford health insurance the life expectancy map would look a lot different so using that map to choose blue areas of where to live isn’t exactly the best data for it. Essentially if average life expectancy of a population was an important factor you wouldn’t move to the states.

Why would I do that when I could have sold them instead to make a profit?
It was a pretty nice set. When I looked it up, the pair were probably worth around $1,000-1,200 USD brand new. Both looked pretty new.

It's pretty crazy how the life expectancy map looks like a voting map.
But yeah, I posted this Twitter thread about a month ago, and the numbers are pretty stark. The absolute richest areas in the US have a similar life expectancy to the average area in England. And the average area in the US has a similar healthy life expectancy as the absolute worst area of England:

No downside to certifying an abandoned gun you found belongs to you so you can sell it...

Certainly obesity is the largest contributing factor to this?

T'was a joke. Although, I'm assuming doing that is a royal PITA if it is even possible to do?
I didn't get to sell it, but I technically saved $350 CAD for my regular rental by notifying the rental car company vs throwing it off a bridge. Plus they upgraded my rental to something that would have been around $550 CAD and I was allowed to bring it back with an empty tank. I have a funny story to tell now, so I'm happy enough with that outcome. Rental car company handled it like a champ. I have had no issues going back to them to rent vehicles. #### happens. How you deal with #### shows character and business acumen. I probably could have asked for more than just a comped rental, but I'm not a dick.
The dude they sent either was a ####ty comedian or very aloof, but he actually asked me if I was certain the guns weren't mine. I'm like, "I'm from Canada, I've been in the US for 8 hours. I'm pretty sure this ain't mine" After that, he asked if it might have belonged to anyone else I was traveling with... because the lady standing 50 feet away with the two kids that I'm traveling with... let me go ask them if it's theirs.

I was in the States last year and someone had left several in the rental vehicle. No case, nothing. Just a his and hers sitting on top of the spare tire compartment (probably why it was missed in previous cleans).
My wife freaked the #### out. I stayed chill. Friends we were traveling with wanted to pick it up and investigate them (almost like it was a toy) and I said no. Car rental company was kinda like, "Are you sure? That shouldn't happen..." at first, but once they sent a guy to confirm there were indeed firearms left in the car, I had like 3 managers calling to apologize and they upgrade my vehicle plus comped the whole thing.
Like, people hear about guns and their brains shut off and it's polarizing. But similar to that in terms of danger IMO, is fireworks. Just be aware and don't be a moron and have no safety plan playing with those things. That's the issue I have with both in the states. I'm not paranoid of the existence of them, but the moment I see that you have a bunch of idiots in the vicinity with guns or fireworks, I'm getting far away from them.

People are morons, all of them, even I am.

For sure, I realized it was a joke, I was just enjoying imagining the possibilities. Sounds like the start of an action comedy to be honest.
"Edward Norton as the grizzled cop is chasing down a hitman (Samuel L Jackson) but he parks his sedan in a fleet of identical ones at the airport drop off and gets away.
Cut to the DoubleF family picking up the vehicle for vacation, and Edward Norton trying to pull them over when one of the DoubleF kids jams something under the gas pedal. Car chase with w/ explosions ensues, rest of movie is a wisecracking DoubleF convincing the cops he isn't the hitman, which he can only do by solving the murders and taking his family on a globetrotting adventure to clear his name."
Or just notify Alamo and give the guns back, totally your choice.

We moved 5 years ago to Chicago area on L1 visa. We are now permanent residents about a year from applying for citizenship.
Our experience has been really good, though as some have said, I expect it's not typical to most Americans. The opportunity to grow wealth is staggering.
Good luck!

Just be careful there is no ship going under the bridge at the same time. (The Wire)
