Things are slow here. Had all the kid's on the block come by around 6 but since there has been no one. Only about 20 so far and I'm close to having eaten more than I have handed out.
About 120 so far, two of my candy packs didn't have a count on them so I'm not totally sure, and I'm down to questionable caramels and suckers now .. probably a bit less than last year. Seems like a lot more 2-5 year olds this year, I guess more younger families in the area.
Best costume so far is a girl who did a great Carmen Sandiego.. One boy had an inflatable baby Trump that looked funny but not a whole lot effort I guess.
Three girls in cow costumes (or maybe just fuzzy PJs) but their makeup and hair was really good, they'd spent a lot of time.
Next door girl had a Hogwarts costume that was really well done.
No good anime costumes this year though.

What are the best places to get discounted Halloween candy tomorrow? Does Shoppers have them or is it better to go to the candy section of a grocery store?
I'm a moderate Halloween person at best. I dont like to dress up and I cant be bothered to decorate, but I can admire and appreciate the work and effort and enjoyment that others get out of it.
Besides...its handing out candy to kids and seeing cool costumes. Its fun.
We had loads of fun! Had about 100 kids come by. Nothing crazy for us other than a carved pumpkin. I had my Pusheen-a-corn kigurumi on and my partner wore a budgie one.

we did halloween in brisbane last night and my daughter had a great time trick or treating. Highlight was a house with a keyboarder playing spooky music who switched to let it go when she showed up dressed as elsa. Also a new cotton candy shop opened that was giving away cotton candy. My wife said we got about 30 people to our house which was less than last year but maybe to be expected for a monday.
Overall though halloween is so sad in australia. Picture the houses in calgary that don’t celebrate halloween and that’s about the number of houses here that do. There was like one house participating per block with a few hotspots with higher numbers. This resulted in a lot of kids being driven around to the hot spots instead of just leaving their house and going out locally. I managed to walk everywhere with my daughter but we were dreadfully inefficient getting to like 20 houses in 90 minutes. Not to mention halloween here brings out all the grumps complaining about american cultural influence all while drinking jim beam and coke and gambling on the nba.
This has motivated me though to get to calgary for a proper halloween sometime in the next few years.
Say what you will about the Australians but they know what they're about and they're not afraid to tell you.
Seems a little Halloween Humbug though. Like...handing out Candy to kids is about as easy as it gets. For Halloween you can put as much or as little effort into it as you want.
I have no decorations nor am I dressed up at all. But I'm still there giving candy to kids and trying to appreciate and encourage their enthusiasm.
