There is nothing in Vladar's play which substantiates this.

Not saying he can't be, but he's never carried any kind of load which suggests he can carry a team into contender status.

Nothing? Ok. How about the way he’s played last season and now this season? I didn’t say he is contender level, I said he looks like it. Maybe contender level was a bit of a hyperbole, but he looks like a number 1 on a good team.

Flames have $1.373 million in cap space.
Kane has a $10.5 million cap hit. Even at max retention (50%), the Flames would need to jettison an additional $3.877 million in cap hits to make such a trade work cap-wise.

I really don't see this happening, at least not this early in the season.

If it happens, it’s happening near the deadline, where the Flames would have accrued the required cap space that would then work with 50% retention.

He has a lifetime GAA of 2.89, and a save % of .902.

Playing back up minutes.

There is nothing so far that suggests he’s anything more than a back up.

If the Sabres are in the hunt, maybe they go after Kane. Afterall he grew up a Sabres fan…
