No Good.
Be better, dome attendees. This is 2022, ffs. Learn to control yourself. A heroin beer buzz is NOT an excuse for that ####.
We can drink and #### around at a game with the boys and still exercise basic responsibility and restraint.
There's no excuse anywhere in life to abandon decency.

My daughter was working at Roger’s in greaserville and it was bad; worst was in the private lounge area including and especially former players.
She complained about it to her manager (mostly verbal as the servers were behind the bar) and there is a harassment policy in place; between staff and for staff to non staff. Nothing on non staff to staff. She was advised to toughen up and it was just a bit of fun.
So she quit.

If Bob Nicholson or Ken Holland's secretary came across an email like that, they might be inclined to do something, even if it's just to protect the brand name. Despite them being contractors and not employees, the Oilers would not want their name tarnished.

And get the same boilerplate corporate HR response. We value and respect all fans, including our female patrons and staff, we have a rigorous harassment training program in place and encourage any incidents to be reported so they can be investigated.
It’s the same everywhere. Talk one way, act another. In one breath they’ll champion their excellent harassment policy and in the next enforce a more revealing dress code because it increases drink sales.
Young women getting harassed is the cost of doing business and making money. There’s probably a positive correlation between harassment and alcohol sales. This has been the way of the service industry for a long, long time and I have my doubts it’s changing anytime soon unfortunately. Not to say we shouldn’t try, I’m just pessimistic that any meaningful change is forthcoming.

I’m not 17 anymore (and I’m not an employee worried about my job) so I’m very comfortable calling them out on it very loudly and swinging an elbow if I need to. But I really feel for these younger employees who are subjected to this. It shouldn’t happen, ever. I think a public announcement would be a great idea - at least bring some awareness to it.
(Just to be clear, in no way am I suggesting this young girl, or any woman or man being harassed should have to feel comfortable making a scene to avoid these instances - it just shouldn’t happen in the first place.)

i can't even fathom doing that... ever... even back when i was a dumb teenager. i did lots of dumb stuff when i was younger (ha... still do actually), but to intentionally grab/rub up against a girl/woman... not a chance. that thought would never even register. i guess it was the way my parents raised me... who knows.
all i know is as a dad, i would become unhinged if i ever saw anyone do that to my daughter!

Sadly this isn't at all surprising. We live in a world where people would unfortunately rather spectate than intervene and society really needs more heroes.
My wife worked at Montana's when she was 17. She was serving a very large table and while walking past had one of the older guys pull her forcefully onto his lap. Everyone laughed. He held her there until she was able to struggle free and the only person who stood up for her was another waitress.
Women are nothing more than objects to scum.

Is this really necessary to add? I don't think anyone made the argument that it's explicitly a Saddledome issue. However it is an issue at the Saddledome and as such, CSEC needs to do better by its employees.

Those urges exist in most men, but it's on men to cultivate some semblance of control and restraint over themselves.
It can be done by every guy and its not even that difficult, and it makes you a more self-respecting person at the end of the day when you can show others and yourself that have dominion over your own faculties.
Also the men women often choose are the ones that exhibit control, because it allows women to feel safe around them. The guys who can show that restraint and even indifference, go about their business respectfully and don't turn into a dog in heat every time attractive women are in the vicinity.
There really is every motivation under the sun to get your #### in order and be better.
Places like the hockey arena should be safe for every one. Especially the people working there! If anything, we owe them our gratitude.

I've never had to cultivate control or restraint. The urge to assault has never been there.

Don't mean to single you out. This kind of behaviour is not surprising at all. It happens. All the time.
It's not isolated to a few bad eggs. Swaths of men lack any respect for women and many cross physical boundaries. Let's call it what it is. Sexism and male privilege.
How to really effect change and fix this behavior? Create a culture where this behavior is not tolerated. Would add that I generally dislike blaming those who stand by quietly. This kind of shift in societal norms doesn't come easy or quickly.

Any more than it already have? By the way how they treated their former players and coach, is their name still have any hold?

No, it's not just a Saddledome thing but regardless of whether it's in Calgary Bars, clubs or Restaurants, its still happening at the Saddledome
Why this issue was shared here was because CP has plenty of STHs and regular patrons at the dome. The capability of curbing this behaviour, particularly at the Saddledome, are in our own hands.
Like another poster mentioned earlier, there's likely a few of us among the thousands here in CP who are guilty of this. I'm calling them out.

Maybe, maybe not as your statement is kind of baseless. There's 19k in the dome and I'm pretty sure the majority aren't CP posters. Who's to say any of the ones that do attend are guilty of this? Just weird to call out people that may not exist here.

That’s complete BS and she should take it to the media so it goes public. Quickest way to change that unacceptable crap is to hit companies with bad press so they enact change. And anyone pulling that crap should be barred from the establishment it occurred in and possibly criminally charged if the victim wishes. The fact this still happens in todays society is maddening.
