The Canucks are seeing a slight bounce back from how they were playing before. The team still has glaring holes in it but they weren't as awful as they were playing earlier in the year. Their defense needs significant work as they see relying too much on overpriced free agent signings and taking on bad contracts. They really have only Hughes as a homegrown talent on the backend. Other than that the last defenseman would have been Edler and Bieksa. Both close to 20 years ago. Tanev was a great free agent signing but if you are having to give up assets or compete against 31 other teams for a players services you are going to have a bad time.

They are an organization that needs to be gutted from top to bottom, too much rot in the core. They haven't graduated anyone of any significance from the farm team in the past decade. They have had successful AHL teams with no real development to speak of, even the Oilers have had players brought up through the system.

The only good thing about the Canucks right now is that they are cleaning house, who they replace them with could be good but it couldn't be much worse.

Getting manhandled in puck battles, and being told to work on his strength, so I hear.

Pelletier doesn’t need to be stronger than everyone else, but he does need to be strong enough that opposing players can’t easily neutralize his skills. It appears that he is strong enough to do that in the AHL. Possibly he has a ways to go before he can flourish in the NHL.

OV was a playmaker in a losing cause, he assisted on both of the Capitals' goals. The Caps were down 3-0 heading into the 3rd period and fell short of the comeback.

3 at 2 in regulation time

Solid goaltending and penalty killing helped the Predators win this one. Saros made 27 saves and the PK was 4/4.

The Avs are showing off their offense by scoring 7 goals for the third straight game. Both of Detroit's goalies didn't stand a chance with the Avs firing 47 shots. Burakovsky with 2 goals and Toews with 3 assists. Kuemper faced 40 shots from the Red Wings.

The Rangers squeaked by the Sabres winning 2-1 in reg time. Georgiev made 36 saves in the win. His shutout bid ended with just over 5 minutes left in the 3rd period.

Carter Hart gave the Flyers quality goaltending in their win over the Knights. Yandle with 2 assists, both on the PP. Pacioretty had 2 goals in the loss, the Knights PP was 1/6. The Flyers were lucky as they took 3 penalties in the last half of the 3rd period.

The cats vs. dogs game (Panthers-Coyotes) had all the goals happen in the 1st period and that was it.The Panthers win puts them in 1st place overall.
