Kinda weird to bring in a permanent HC (I can’t see BB coming in as an interim) but an interim GM.

Sounds like they might just have given Boudreau a 1.5 year deal rather than the standard 3 year deal most coaching hires get. This is probably Boudreau's swan song. His health wasn't the greatest last year and given his age, I think he is just there to sort things out for them and isn't in the long term plans.

Still, usually you’d give a new GM a chance to pick a coach, or at least hire them at the same time so they know what they’re getting. Now the Interim GM has less power than Boudreau.

Reading up on this Chris Gear fella... he played CIS football at Queens, got a law degree, worked at Blakes for six years, and eventually joined the Canucks in 2010 doing legal work. Was promoted to AGM in 2020.
