Hey, That's it. This is the unique year that Flames can beat all Canadian Teams in the playoff and run to the cup.
Beat Montreal 3 games in row - Game 5,6 and 7 /losing 1-3 series at the moment/
Beat Oilers 2 games - Game 6 and 7
Beat Jets and Sens - both game 7
Beat Canucks - 4 games /losing series 0-3/
Beat Toronto /1st round/
Beat Jets /2nd round/
Beat LV /3rd round/
Beat FLA /Final/
Let's hope!!!

Hoping for a big L so even the players will stop believing, if they haven't already. The closer to first overall the better! Ottawa right on our heels!

Playing for pride every year results in playing for pride every year. Just shut up and lose already.
I’m actually okay with whatever happens. This is a weak draft year to begin with and with minimal scouting and development this year for prospects it’s an even bigger crapshoot.

I don’t think we’ll draft anyone franchise changing whether we pick 4th or 5th or 8th or 9th anyway. I’m not even convinced 1st overall will be overly franchise changing this year.

If we’re going into a rebuild I’d much rather save our chances to win a lottery for the Shane Wright or Connor Bedard drafts. If we only have 2 wins in a 5 year span I’d prefer to win one of those years.

This year is a write off for me. I’m just enjoying the hockey and whatever happens happens.

Final score: Another huge, momentum-building win... for our opponent.

I'm a little bit conflicted. I want them to win just to make the remaining games a tiny bit more interesting. And frankly, if they are going to go on any kind of winning streak I would much rather they do it when playoffs are still possible and the pressure on.

As annoyed as some posters will be if they win a few and fall short, it would be significantly more annoying to watch them fall short, have all the pressure removed, and then go on a winning streak to worsen their drafting position.

I would much rather us catch fire now. Specifically Gaudreau and Monahan. Even if it means a higher draft pick. Would you rather have the 3-5th overall pick in a weak draft where barely any players were properly scouted and get peanuts in return for our two largest assets? Or would you take 15th OA and have those two guys finish off the year smoking hot so we can get a decent haul for them?

There’s not only no one franchise changing, there’s no one who looks to make the team next year. And so many non-CHL players, which always gives me pause, because University and Euros are a lot harder for me to peg.

The thing is I’d be afraid if they get smoking hot that it would give them a reason not to trade them.

Montreal won't let us die. They are just as bad as us.

This draft is interesting to me though as the potential for swings is huge.

What scouting staff is set up the best for these circumstances? Calgary's group has been doing quite well in recent drafts in finding upper roster talent in the mid rounds. Do they have a book that translates well into this mess? (earlier looks, younger kids, boots on the ground)

A handful of teams are going to kill the '21 draft because of different setups in their systems.

Who is this referring to? Gaudreau, Ferland, Mangiapane, Fox? Is that all the same scouting staff?

One of the reasons I hate this season is because a top pick has never been less of a lock. Knowing the Flames luck they get 1st overall and that player busts or is at least the worst of him and the 5 players taken after

Mangiapane and Fox for sure.

Dube if you stretch it to the second round.

Then guys of interest that haven't arrived ... Zavagorodniy, Ruzicka, Phillips ...

For years I was used to the Flames drafting kids and then never hearing from them again. It's nice to see some get signed and be more interesting after draft day rather than a rapid decline into obscurity.

We have one more game left against them so technically only 1 point clear!
