Yes please. With Nikitin swapping with Kylington depending on how they each play.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but isn’t $787,500 less than what his qualifying offer would have been?. He had cap hit of $730,833 last year and I thought qualifying offers are 10% or 15% increase of what he made the previous season.

Being this is a 2 way deal, i suspect he is 8th on the NHL depth chart and likely to start the season on the black ace roster or in Stockton (or where ever they play).
Big year for him.

I dont remember it that way at all.....he was ok at the start of the season and began to do some good things into December, but around Xmas he started to slide and after some really poor games in January, never saw the ice again.

I'm not sure how he'd be 8th on the depth chart, even if Nesterov (as an example) is ahead of him.
Here's how I see it
Giordano - Tanev
Hanifin - Andersson
Valimaki - Nesterov
And then:
Kylington
Mackey
Yelesin
Petrovic
Poolman
Lerby

He'd have to clear waivers to go to the AHL now, which I doubt he would. Given his NHL experience the last couple of years plus the expanded rosters guarantees he's staying here frankly.
I think this might be his last season with Calgary though.
Valimaki and Andersson both flew past him up the depth charts, and I suspect Connor Mackey might do the same.

I assume you meant clear waivers...which is true but I dont think anyone would necessarily claim him right now simply because of the circumstances this season, at least early on.
He would need to stay on an NHL roster for 30 days if claimed and im not sure many teams are going to want to do that ahead of what they go into the season with. He is still an unknown quantity and not sure a lot of clubs want to play him above their own guys necessarily. And with a shortened season and every point that much more crucial, other clubs will go with what they know over what might be.
Injuries and illnesses can change all that very quickly though, granted.

All I can get

Are waiver rules going to remain the same this season?
There's probably an argument that they won't because of logistics.
For instance, he could just be parked on the taxi squad.

I can’t see the nhlpa signing off on that. Players want their NHL salary.

How is Kylington on the PP? I mean, if skating and offence are his strengths, does he warrant a look as a bottom pair, PP2 guy?

Yes, I meant clear. I think he'd be a definite waiver claim in a normal year, let alone a year where teams will have 2 extra D roster spots.

I like Kylington.
He strikes me as a player we won't give enough chance to that will flourish someone post Calgary.
I hope I'm wrong and he gets good playing time this coming season.

I hope they try him up front on wing at least once or twice. Like to see that elite skating up front where he could get a chance to really use it.

Qualifying offers expire if the player doesn't accept them within a certain time, but the team still retains the player's rights.

I thought they were a little more over sorry. Looks like yeah they are a few hundred thousand over but that’s with just 12 forwards and 7 d.

This is exactly what his QO was.
The QO is based on the player's salary (not cap hit) in the last season of his previous contract (that's why Tkachuk's QO will be $9 million when his contract expires).
For contracts between $660,000 and $1 million, the QO is 105% of the previous season's salary. For Kylington, his salary last season was $750,000 ... a 5% raise is $787,500.

I can't imagine he doesn't get claimed. He's young has some warts but has some high end potential and he's right on the cusp of making the NHL full time. In my mind there's no chance a team like Ottawa or Detroit don't claim him and give him some top four minutes and see what they have in him. Hell, even Tampa Bay I think would put in a claim. near minimum salary and a young offensive defenseman who would be able to play in their lineup and potentially take off sounds like a perfect free pick up for them.

It would be monumentally stupid to spend all of this time developing Kylington, only to lose him for nothing on waivers and watch him reach his potential with another team. Somehow it also feels like such a typical Flames thing to do that I'm all but certain that it will happen.
