Honourable mention to Brent Krahn. I really wanted him to work out. Especially the season after the lockout when we got stuck with the second best #30 instead...

Went with Stu Grimson

Reese is too closely attached to Leeman, whom has been deleted from my memory

Trefilov - remembered him standing on his head a few times during the Young Guns era. It's really too bad the Young Guns were always one or two goals short of winning all the time. Can't blame the goalies at all during those times. The skill levels and depth overall just weren't there.

I can't understand how anyone could vote against someone whose nickname is the "Grim Reaper." I'm impressed with the fact he got into 729 NHL games and logged only 39 points!

There is really only 2 choices here because I do believe most of these guys never really played enough games with the flames to even get a judgement.

I was going to go with Reese, but then I saw McDonald's stats and he was basically a tandem with Kipper in 2012-13 (albeit Kipper had an MCL injury i do believe) and was arguably the better of the two.

Plus, if you believe in the legend, the Oilers' trainer sewed and tightened Brown's sleeve and applied silicone lube so Grimson couldn't neutralize that deadly left.

I'm tempted to vote Trefilov for his 51 save performance in MSG in 1994 and the fact that Sutter so badly wanted to off McLennan and his contract in 2003 that he protected Trefilov in the waiver draft to expose McLennan. When Turek got hurt Noodles played some of the best hockey of his career to help keep the team alive until they could get Kiprusoff.

I thought Grimson wore 55?
Karlsson was the shortest 6'7 goalie, always got beat high.
Trefilov. 3 assist Reese was a novelty. As was Trefilov, who of course drew early comparisons to scribes starved for a juicy story to sell papers, and comparing him to Tretiak.
Whitmore, the backup that was on the bench for the Ducks Brawl.

No. He wore #18 for his one game in 88-89 and #35 for his 3 games in 89-90.

Don't forget McLennan held the fort through January too, after Kipper got hurt just before New Year's Eve. With both Turek and Kipper hurt—with Dany Sabourin as his backup —he kept the Flames in the hunt. 3-4-1, but with a very strong 2.24 GAA and .918 sv%.

Grimson deserves extra credit for being a lawyer after his NHL career. The guy is amazing

Yeah Sutter desparately wanted Sabourin to grab the reigns in November but he was not up to it. By January he had zero faith left in him. Noodles had to battle that year to win Sutters love, and it all starts with Trefilov!

Isn't Sabourin the guy who had to sub for Luongos ill timed BM in like 2007?
