Nah, it’s really not. Pretty sure the Flames won the season series against the Aves last year. The seasons a grind. Hard to put a ton of weight into it. Just like flames losing to Montreal that doesn’t indicate how they would do in a best of 7.

More depth from the bottom two lines which draws more penalties?

Its simple. You have to have possession of the puck to draw penalties. The Oilers rarely have possession 5 on 5.

I always love this comment, because it is so Edmonton. Hockey is entertainment, and they play 2-4 times a week from early October, to early April. If your team makes the playoffs they can play till June.
Most Canadian fans that post on a message board and watch every game have their emotions tied to the result. It brings a smile to my face knowing Oiler fans have had less moments of joy than most fanbases over the last 10yrs+...but still they trot out the playoff series win comment. Haha. That city is the best kind of loser.

I'd say it's more about the individual players when it comes to things carrying over. Guys like Mangiapane are going to feel confident facing a team that they've produced against over that season.
McDavid naturally will feel like he can break in with his speed at least once or twice for ten bell opportunities against the Flames. History does play in.
If the Oil posters feel that things can change based on momentum going into the POs ala Colorado last season after losing the season series to the Flames, then that might not be an encouraging thing for them either as the Flames appear to be ramping their game up lately. Flames having momentum plus a good showing in the season series can't be the best of indicators for their guys in a potential matchup, either which way you look at it.
In the last few games, even though they picked up a win and loser point, according to guys like Spec (didn't see it), the Oilers were not at all impressive. Doesn't seem like they're firing on all cylinders lately, aside from their automatic PP.

They haven’t been firing on all cylinders, but still finding ways to win when needed. Of course missing quite a few players starting to come back, and the schedule hasn’t allowed much practice time for the new guys to start clicking. I’m not too concerned at this point.

Practically every team in the race has been missing players and had tight schedules lately.
