Of note, Brodie only played 14 minutes last game, while other D men were in the 20s.

Double quote? That wasn’t short cited by any means.

That's good as Hamonic should be the guy that they trade, imo.

I find it very interesting that they think Kylington can be a penalty killer. His body type makes me very nervous because you have to clear the net a little on the PK to prevent rebounds getting hammered in. I don't know that OK can do that with his slight frame.
Sure, he can skate with the best and has a good stick, but is that enough for the PK?

Fascinating move. Interesting to see how Stone will do with increased reps.

Reaching a little bit here, but maybe they are working on a trade but want to see if Davidson can handle being in the NHL again before trading away another D. It wouldn't have to be Kylington being traded, it is just convenient that he doesn't need waivers.

Back in, I wanna say 2017 (?) Kylington was a strong PKer for the Heat. I'd have assumed Huska remembered that. It's Peters who refused to give Kylington PK reps even in preseason.

I do think it shows in some way that Kylington has actually gained the trust of Peters though.
Send him down to get some PK time and continue working on his development. Let's them give Stone a run in the lineup to make sure he's had enough reps if he ends up needing to play a bigger role.
I do think the team maybe wants to make sure they can trust Stone/Davidson as depth before maybe pulling the trigger on moving a d-man.

Yeah, I think that Hamonic has made it clear he is testing UFA. Would be comfortable trading him. I wonder if we could get a 2nd or middle six forward back.

I believe you can over analyze these moves too much, and putting much credence into media comments isn't wise IMO.
Bill Peters' job number one is to put the best line up together in order for the Flames to win hockey games. Kylington down and Davidson up means they want to see if they have a better chance of winning with that configuration.
If Peters doesn't like what he sees in games or practice, this won't last long.
I don't believe it's coincidence that this move coincides with Kylington's poor play in the last game. You don't have to agree with it to be sure.

Or you can just go by Peters' own words, being that they are sending Kylington down so that he can get PK reps, because they want to develop that part of his game.

No kidding.
Peters certainly has not been shy the past week in calling out his players, so I don't know why he wouldn't have just done the same with Kylington if this was the reason for his dispatch to Stockton.

I think the PK strategy in the NHL has changed to shot blocking, good stick and mobile D. The Flames use Brodie on PK and he's the same size as Kylington (who will probably get heavier).

The #1 key to a good PK is identifying loose pucks and winning foot races to them, and to close out time and space to the half wall areas and force bad passes.
Kylington excelled on the PK in these areas when i last watched him in the minors, and the simplicity of being able to ice the puck really prevented him from getting overly fancy on the breakout plays as well.
His gap control also makes him strong at entry denial, which is another major aspect of PKing that gets overlooked.

I hope Kylington doesn't take this the wrong way and understands this will make him a better hockey player long term. This will be a test of his maturity, but all signs point to him being a smart young man.

Well he has killed penalties in the AHL before. And they didn’t try him at it in pre season. Has he been killing penalties in practice?
They called up the other guy because they want to see if he might be better right now. Like every other call up situation. Doesn’t mean players don’t work on parts of their game when they get sent down.

I think it's based on his agent saying they are not negotiating an extension right now.
