Biggest key to the game. Winning on depth is nice, but you can't rely on your bottom 9 to carry the team offensively. The top line has to get going, Monahan especially. I'll go out on a limb and say that if he gets on the scoresheet tonight, the Flames win handily

I’m not gonna lie, no matter how many times I look at that thread title, it looks like Klingon to me. Great OP tho.

Hopefully the Flames aren't too overconfident for this one. Both teams were a bit tentative to start game 1, but the Avs will surely come out flying tonight, so the boys will need to be ready.

Flames just have to keep playing their game and rolling 4 lines, and we've got this.

Adjustments for Game 2? Hard to say — Bednar’s got his hands full with matchups because 3M and Norris Gio aren’t giving up much to their top guys. Add in our depth and solid goaltending, and Peters has them right where he wants them.

Special teams might be the key again — PP1 had some good looks but the Avs were taking away the pass from Gio to Lindholm and collapsing down on Johnny. I’d try to work it low and loosen them up so Gio has more options from the point.

Hope we see another aggressive start and that our physicality in game 1 starts to pay dividends going forward. I like how every line has at least one guy who can finish a hit (Lindholm, Tkachuk, Bennett, Hathaway) — I think it will really help keep the Avs on their heels.

GFG!

Yeah there's not a lot Bednar can do.

He can't play his top line more, he can't do much about the matchups. He needs the top line to break through the 5 man system against them, or at least generate the penalties required to score that way and steal the game.

The Flames are beatable, for sure. But I see it more whether/if they beat themselves than what the Avalanche counter with as they've already gone all in in playing their forwards 25 minutes.

If Smith is average or better
If the Flames take three penalties or less
If the Flames patiently play their game

They should be fine.

Hopefully they continue to defend and PK as well as they did in game 1.

Haha there are a lot of abbreviations in the title, eh?

Thanks, I try to have a quick and dirty info dump that's easy to digest. Glad people like it.

I do wish it was easier to keep track of what channels were broadcasting the game. Seems like every other day I get a message from Tsawwassen to update the thread title (which I'm thankful for). Also this time of year there are a lot of stations showing the games, so the TV channels looks like Klingon for sure. Maybe there's a better way to demonstrate the four regional SportsNet channels? Like SN4R for SportsNet Four Regional Stations but who would know what that means at a glance? SNOWEP as a single word looks too weird to me.

I'm expecting a much better start tonight. I felt a lot of guys took a period to get their 1st playoff game jitters out of the way particularly Hanafin and Lindholm.

Depth comes through again. 4-1 Flames

Stay disciplined, limit the odd man rushes that were given up last game.

I wonder if it will be even rowdier in the Dome tonight because it’s Saturday? It’ll be tough to top Thursday’s atmosphere.

I think it will be rowdier for sure tonight. Lots of people are going to show up to the game boozed up with it being a Saturday and 8:30 start.

I hope so. Crowd wasn’t bad once they got going but it was sad to see Navras playing and the entire building sitting on their hands completely silent.

I'd really like to see Valimaki over Fantenberg.

I think the fans were just as nervous and tentative as the players in that 1st period on Thursday. After Mangiapane scored the opening goal, it felt like a huge relief, and the crowd grew louder and rowdier as the game wore on.

I think the C of red will give the Isles fans a run for their money tonight.

I remember making a speech to my players once and I got in trouble from the head coach for it but I still like it so I'm going to modify it for this game.

"All we hear about is how good their front line is, how they're all elite and dominant

When they talked to the press they talked about having to physically dominate us
That their goalie was the hottest goalie in the league and far better then our goalies, and that our goalies are the weak link and will let as down
We've heard that they took Nashville to 6 games last year and that pre-destines them to beat us because we can't be as good as Nashville was.

F%%% those guys, I mean seriously f%%% them, we know that we're a better team, we know that we're good with adversity, we know that we're good with people thinking that we're not that good, or that we will choke.

Frankly, the Avs are no joke, but neither are we, we work harder, we have better talent and a better locker room, and now we need to show them, the media and the haters who we are.

So F%%% all of them too"
