That is hilarious. And absolutely awesome that he admitted it publicly.

So he creates the headline about Boston moving up, then when he finds out he missed Calgary, he slides them in at 11th so that they remain 3rd and his story still makes sense (if he put them any higher than 11th, Calgary would have been 2nd and Boston 3rd).

That is beautiful.

It is also all the proof anyone, who actually puts credence in these things, needs to know how little they are taken seriously by the people creating them. Most of us understand that they are nothing but click bait, but he has flat out admitted that he just fudged a number, rather than correct his article (because, who fricking cares?)

Now I am glad I started the thread - it was worth it for that.

Compton is also an Islanders reporter guy. He “forgot” the team that crushed his team twice in the last week. Extremely Likely, I’m sure.

SO, he didn’t want to change his story, so had to insert the Flames at 11th - which required a slight change to the story. But inserting the Flames where they should be, and having to change a couple additional numbers in the story would have been too much?

Haha this is the perfect example of why these "rankings" are useless. It's just click bait for bored hockey fans and gamblers.

Now if someone wanted to put together a more scientific ranking system and was able to show a correlation to playoff success I might actually pay attention. Something like taking the standings but removing shoot out wins, making OT wins only worth a half point, and adding in other factors based on goal differential, CF% close, and difficultly of schedule.
